i really dont understand the point of botting - why do you play this game?

the point in my eyes is to create structures (both "physical" and "social") that you are proud of.

if this includes (solely or as part of your plan) raiding to get curios/food/gear, then fine, I'm really happy for you to do that, and that is something that is a possible winning strategy in this game.

but i don't really see the attraction in just botting up your crops, curios, metals, silk, while you are afk. This requires no skill or effort, especially if you haven't even done the programming yourself, and can hardly be called playing the game. Its like a 10 year old using god mode to complete starcraft (that was me by the way :p, 1998, good times), except that there is no "story" for you to discover, and the game is multiplayer. If you don't think botting in this game is cheating, just because it is allowed (as ofc single player cheats in SC are) then there is something wrong with you.

Even if you have programmed it yourself, you should probably find a more interesting/difficult programming exercise. Why not try to write your own game or something, if you really have nothing better to do?

I have lots of better things to do, but I like a challenge and I find this to be challenging. As for playing the game, I decided that I'm done playing legit until there is a massive overhaul of the game. I also like being creative, and enjoy making songs about random players - something that is more appreciated here than elsewhere I think.

I enjoy your songs also ;)

I'm interested to know however, what is your *reason* for playing, if you are just going to bot everything? Is it just to write clever bots? Or do you actually enjoy the game?

If the former, I think its rather bizarre to decide to take up this particular challenge. If the latter, I am interested to know what parts of the game you do enjoy.

I think bots are cheap. That's one thing that makes this game awesome is having to remember times you say put your eggs on the table to pull them off. You can have a machine do it for you... sounds weak. Also its supposed to be difficult to clear cut a forest or harvest a feild of crops. F*CK BOTTING!

He's still pissed he got slung to death so he raged and started making bots.

At least that's what i've from his posts so far. Not really terrible to have a tutorial so new people can use the bots though really. At this point a lot of bigger towns use bots anyways.

I originally started because my friend IRL started playing and had me intrigued. I finished my final exams and had a month of free time, so I made a few characters. I really wanted the game to be much more political, but my village got raided. I wasn't going to give up until I got shot while I was typing.

Now, I know the pvp trolls will roll up in here and tell me to go get shot again - screw em. I'm done putting time into anything but botting because thats the only thing that directly combats the pvp morons imho. My friend still plays, though, and I do enjoy some of the community. So I stay here making bots and music videos.

See, at least I turn my rage into something productive. And I'll always be pissed about getting shot while typing - it's fucking lame as shit. Come fight me, bro.
