Supporting my point. Revolution is the only way out. Just individually walking away does not work.

dagrimreefah wrote:That would take a radical reform of the way society thinks, which means purging ideaologies such as the kind you believe in.

First part of the sentence I can agree with. Unfortunately I believe in equality, freedom and justice as a base of humans living together. I fear getting rid of that would further the current injustice so we might very well need what I believe in to get to reforms.

dagrimreefah wrote:You act as if the State is a hapless victim in this arrangement. And you call me naive?

The state is. The politicans however are another story.

We don't need less state to prevent the current problems from happening again. We need another code of moral behavior and thinking to be implemented deep within the human mind. That means a radical change of the education systems.

dagrimreefah wrote:No one needs better and more efficient ways of producing things?

Certainly not with the underlying exploitative logic that has been going hand in hand with innovation the past centuries. Innovation needs to be disconnected from the purpose oriented logic that is driving every aspect of our lives.

In its original meaning probably not much. But that does not exist anymore.

No, because Monsanto owns all the land. Also:
Wikipedia wrote:Maximum number of fowls per acre: 100 laying hens [40 m² per hen].

That's way less efficient than crops, especially potato. And even if you grew nothing but potato, you'd still need 150-200 m^2 of irrigated farmland to provide one person with 2000 calories a day. Not that you could do physical labour like farming on 2k calories a day, you need closer to 5k. And not to mention you'd get every imaginable nutritional deficiency and die in a matter of months if you ate nothing but potatoes.

Its not like everyone just said "Hey, lets have a revolution!" one day. It began with colonization, individual by individual, leaving Europe and building to a point.

The State harbors politicians and the larger it is, the more power politicians have to play with.

I agree with you there

As shitty as things may seem, I assure you it does. It may be hard to see behind the State protected entities of McDonalds, Walmart, General Electric, etc. But it does.

On that note, although I for the most part totally disagree with you on almost everything Burg, I do respect you for actually putting your balls on the table and indulging me with this debate. I must go to bed now, but I do thank you :) (handshake)

Monsanto wouldn't be the bohemoth it is today if it wasn't for government protectionism. :geek:

It wouldn't really change anything if it wasn't there, the land would just be owned by smaller local capitalists.

More hypotheticals.

Also: easier to obtain if that were the case.

Monsanto bought the land from small capitalists, who bought it from feudal lords when feudalism was abolished and their fortunes fell. My Grandpa for example bought our land from a descendant of an Ottoman bey who had a bit of a drinking problem and lots of land. At which point would you break the chain of land ownership and redistribute it to the masses? Which is BTW something that not even socialist Yugoslavia did with our land.

Next time I have to say "We need to discuss something" I'm gonna say "Let's masturbate together" instead.
