Sorry. One of those abbreviations you get used to with a small community and expect those that know to recognize it and most everyone else to either not like them (rogue-likes--RLs--in this case) or not like that particular game. Given the number of games for RLs, most everyone that plays them has at least tried all the traditional style ASCII/ANSI based ones.

To play in the tourney, you just have to play the latest version (0.13 beta) on one of the web hosts online. You can find all the hosts via the Dungeon Crawl blog "Play Webtiles!" link. (List of valid servers also on the rules page, too.)

To sign up as a guild, you just get a group together and everyone puts their information in the rc file for the game type. Each game type on the web servers has a separate rc file, so make sure you edit the right one. Directions for what needs to be added are on the same page at the top.

This is my first time playing in the tourney, so not really sure what to do other than try to get as many banners and points as possible and see if I can finally beat the game at least once. If nobody else has a better idea of how to organize it, I'll be glad to lead it (and we could maybe make a separate thread just to show off our skillz or ineptitude to everyone else here). Remember, only 6 people can be in one guild: the captain and 5 others.

Oh, and guilds/clans can be formed up and changed until the 19th (Thursday) at 1900 (7pm) UTC.

edit: a team name would be good. Looks like there are reddit and Bay 12 groups. Maybe Ring of Brodgar?

I get stuck on loading when trying to watch people play. I haven't tried actually playing since it requires registration, but I'm guessing I'd run into the same problem. It's a shame, really, since I'm playing quite a bit of Crawl these days, so I could join the team

Weird, as it strictly requires WebSocket and JavaScript, which are in all the major browsers. Otherwise, I've gotten stuck trying to observe. You might try one of the other servers. You can also always play the text version via Telnet. Some people prefer it. Instructions here: http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/howto

I seem to be having the same luck, except I am completely tech clueless. I went here, registered and then hit play now 0.13 beta and it hangs on the loading screen.

I then tried the Firefox bit in the following instructions, but the line referred to there does not exist in my about:config



EDIT II: And then I tried the CLAN server and it works. Give it a go Potjeh.

its game about timing of mouse clicks... i got 99,37%... on hard mode and double speed
