TBRH wont work, there is/are games like Granado Espada (Swords of the new wrold) That has this to stop macro/botters, but the bots became so advanced to counter the "Enter Word" Check Box that more normal players who couldn't enter it in time (or some cases lag/bug) ended up in "Jail". In the end teh normal players lost.

Checkign logs isn't the solution either, you know how much effort to look tru 1 person's log, times that with 1k and they are only two Dev not a team of GM of 100.

Just saying.

oh please...no, that will only call for sophisticated bots no end, sadly. many games tried and have failed, bot detection systems usually fail, bot scripters love new challenges too much.

i like the current community efforts of agreement to say no to bot users with help of devs by system changes.
"i have to use bots to catch up with the bot users to win" is no cool.
"i have to exploit bugs to catch up with the bug abusers to win" is no cool.

re: main topic,
i see nothing wrong in devs having favorites who have contributed to the game in many ways.
i do not see any problems devs giving gifts to this much serious bug trackers. game advantage? so what, they are dedicated enough to spend their time and chars to help them crash the exploits. if you knew, you could have reported it and gotten your gold bar, and im sure more ppl would have shown more respect to your bug finding ability, instead of asking for a wipe.
as for testing, arent we all "alpha-testers" after all? isnt this an experimental project for devs to toy around and we all agree to the concept in order to have our share of fun?

it sounds like kiddos who cry for fairness in class and bully "teachers pets" when they never behave themselves, just seek attentions by wrong-doings. they never look at how the "pets" contribute to the class activities. sometimes they try just one good thing and fail and say "i tried doing the same but they never cared cause im not their favorite!", never think of doing another good, too scared to get un-noticed again and go back to usual and just complain to others how unfair.

And in that case, attention-seeking kids are speech-impaired mostly :D

And the curiosity system is a huge step in that direction, so I don't get what's the problem.

this

the current system is much harder to bot and i like it. it's kinda impossible to create a LP-System in a 2D-point-to-click-game? (whatever) like HnH that u can't abuse. i don't need a horde of botting koreans and russians, who ruin this game.
And to see how hard Koya cries, should show the last idiot how hard AD botted in w3 and w4.

FSumkin can't talk from all of russian community.
havenandhearth.ru is just one of places where peoples talk about the game. And even at havenandhearth.ru he is not the people who have authority.

He can only speak about his opinion.

Most bad from what he wrote was: we want wipe.
Why we have wipe so often? I played hard first two month of W4 to rise my own village, to play at last till november, cause dev's said that they don't touch game till that time: only bug fixes. And then one morning I log in when drinking my tea and I saw that all my job is gone. And then I read jorb's words about revolution: they sounds to me same lye like second russian revolution. This whipe came not for the needs of working class, but cause someone crying about AD boting.

It sounds really bad for me if AD quit HnH. Last worlds attention of Wayneville/Sodom/KITSUNE/randomword was focused on opposition with AD.
If AD will lose cold war and quit the game I'm afraid we will see unstoppable monsters of Burgingham near our settlements again.

And yes, I'm afraid there is truth in Koya's words about dev pets. Cause till w2 there is too many bugs that still not fixed. Much more worse that wall-jumping.
For example I saw post at one of russian sites about game of player who use overflow skills bug with ArtMoney for a long long time.
Or for example bucket grinding - it was fixed only after many of players start to use this tech.
And jabber-notification still don't work. I know that big villages that like to raid dislike this function, but if your settlement small and you can't play to often - you can't make good defense without it.
But Sodom propaganda lay all guilt on AD shoulders.

I really don't interesting in who is right in holywar. Yes, this wars really broke game mechanics, or more truly reveal some cheat-tech of sides.
But at W3, W4 we have had bipolar world, if AD quits we return to unipolar world. And I suppose we will see again genocide by Wayneville, or someone same.

For players who don't remember Wayneville start aggression in the end of W2. Russians who rides every foreign players in W3 cames as an answer. I can't say that this is good, but no one can answer for this - now it's a sort of tradition of russian MMO communities - if there was massive war against russians in some game - hordes of players come to stop that. And not all peoples in the internet are good and fair judges.

jorb, if you want game about law that peoples make themselves you need to be higher than wars of fractions, or you must say that this game is only for you and your friends. Same time I don't say that you must be cold as statue of justice. Sorry for this rude words, man, but I'm really sad from what I read. It seems for me that there is part of truth in flood of screaming.

And, yes, I like this game not cause wars or LP system - I like it cause of it's survival roguelike with permanent death, cause it's about law that peoples make themselves, cause I have too much fun from it. Cause I like dev's visions of what game must be.

i remember this, it wasnt wayneville but a few random assholes like klaue using the server lag as a justification for their private massacre of new foreign players. and a bunch of stupid forumers cheered them on, thinking that was an acceptable solution

stop using convenient scapegoats for your troubles
