Suggest a small field of each type of crop for increasing quality over time, but then larger fields for LP farming where you dont need to "sort" seeds. once your better crop jumps up like 20q+ you can replant the good seeds in the existing larger fields and repeat =P

Might be slightly less efficient, but saves you a crap load of time... :3

a quick hemp harvest, plant excess seeds as grass, and converting the fiber into cloth nets about 30klp every time.

I'm so trying this. Why would you plant the excess as grass, though, and not more hemp?

I think harvesting wheat, grinding the seeds into flour, making dough out of the flour and making hats out of the straw nets even more LP than hemp, no?

Hemp for me is all about the plant fibres for string and rope. What I really need is for my wheat to mature so I can get straw for my bee's nest's and soon chicken coop. Things are going well that as i now have started my Palisade. I even have a loom which I are loving at the moment as I can now turn the wool from my two rams (god I am glad I found them) in to bandages - I might even get my health back up to full, that is if the boars will leave me alone for any moment in time.
Today I learnt the value of having things to do inside my farm as I had a boar by one of my gates and a bear at the other one. I wish I could kill them as I really need leather at the moment and rabbits are just not able to keep up with my demand. Alas though I can't seem to even beat up ants at the moment though I have gotten to the stage where I can raid their nest and then escape without a problem.

All in all things are going well - I might have even found another active farm today located by the lake I go to for my clay (the one with the kiln built) Though I have yet to see the person out and about the place dose look cared for and in full repair. I hope I can say high to the person and maybe even work on trading (though what for I have no clue).

And thus my story continues...I just wish I knew where in the world I was.

**********Edit************

Yay I know know where I am! I am in the B2 section I found myself on one of the maps because of the weird shaped lake. Now I can finally fine where I lost that cart of supplies. By the way dose any one know the name of the town that is right at the bottom of B2? I would like to attempt to visit it but I would rather know i was not going to get jumped on for just randomly showing up.

***********Edit #2**********
I did it!! I finally managed to kill one of those blasted boars!!!

I got the thing to chase me into my gated home and then locked him in one of my sections while I pelted it with rocks. Took a while but now his skin is up to dry as well as a fox's that I got the same way. I will eat well tonight! I also now have a bee hive up and a chicken coop! My wall is so close to being finished now that I only have to wait for a few more bits of rope for the final section to be started.

haha, good going. Living as you are, from scratch, has its advantages. Like you know where everything is, you don't need to communicate, also there are usually easy resources like wood/branches on hand, and it's just a lot simpler. But it has disadvantages like there are luck factors.. e.g. you might never get wheat from a WWS (by being unlucky). Also you probably get slower LP in general, for example, you can't make beehives because you don't have enough straw so your crops grow slower so you can't get more seeds and more ingredients etcetc. I'm lucky cause I moved into a village with a great guy, we've got a nice deal now.

Well it has been quite a while since I gave an update and while I am sure no one is really interested I felt it might actually be useful to any new players to read my exploits and see how I progress threw the game. So why today for a random post? Well I have hit a few big milestones - My Foraging level is now high enough for me to find mussels (which I have). I have finally managed to get Beets from the WWW and the biggest news is at last have killed a bear!

Image

I have been trapping boars in my gates for a while now and seeing a bear just outside was just too tempting - It took two go's to get it right and I think the location of one of my drying racks got in the way a bit (or maybe helped) but i managed to trap the brute in my gate. A lot of rocks later and his skin is hanging up while I feast on his meat and polish his teeth  .

Another big update is that I have met someone in the game (other then the guy who is currently living alongside me but he HSed over) I had seen him in his boat a few times and had tried to say hello before but I think he was worried I might try to kill him (like I have a chance) any way I happened to be in the spot he needed to get to so we both took a risk and said hello. Turns out the guy runs a village not a stones throw away from me :D ! Now I know where I can do some trading and maybe make some new friends.
