Rules:

-A mod can't kick/ban someone just because they talked back.
-Impose a 3 strike rule. If someone breaks the rules three times, they get a temporary ban. If it happens again, permanent.
-Give a temporary mute for excessive spamming.
-Rule against DDoSing, looking up stats, etc.
-Rule against furfag images, child pornography, and anything else that's excessively obscene.
-Make a rule either against or for racism or swearing.
-Create a way for people to easily voice their concerns over how the IRC channel is being ran without repercussions.

A strict rule of either there's no Racism bullshit OR there's no rule for it.

I often see people go on for hours about how people are 'niggers' or 'fucking chinks and slanted eyes' blah blah blah without a goddamn thing happening then 2 hours later someone halfass mentions something racist and gets a ban, it's happened more times than I care to count, there should either be a rule that this isn't allowed or a rule that it is, otherwise people see it happen, think it's okay, do it, and then get banned for it.

Posting links to stuff, I know this is already enforced, it should be stated as an obvious rule, posting to obscene shit should be a ban, I almost vomitted while eating once when that dude you banned after posted some gore.

Getting around bans and impersonating people should be optional.

Great! There should be a rule where mods have to be like you (no sarcasm). Just create some sort of more formalized chat policy so that moderator actions are a little more consistent.

Yes, but more personal and formalized. A person should be able to chat with a mod without having to post what he wants out in public for people to flame him. Good to get feedback, even if it's negative. Having people flame that person only serves to prevent any new ideas being brought forward.

ironically IRC is not a good medium for voicing concerns or really feedback of any kind. forums are

Well I've never heard of anyone having a problem with you, and I certainly haven't. If someone's actually insulting you they probably deserve it as is evident from what the forum says about your character, you don't insult people for nothing, or at least haven't as far as I've seen.

The real issue I see is when a mod jumps in a conversation and says something like "X sucks" and then X says "No [Mod] Sucks" and get kicked/banned for it. If it's for no reason other than "Herp derp I'm against mods" they totally deserve one.

I think the problem isn't with this thread but with others re-banned for voicing opinions here on the forums against IRC people.

Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence!

But seriously, Im not there very often, and I really hate being in a position of responsibility in a game. Just ask any Bottleneck guys. I'm still trying to figure out how to use my mod powers here on the forum, heh.

So while I thank you for the thought, and will be happy to help people on IRC, I remove myself from consideration.

Britannia, all those things are already enforced as far as I know. I'm not really sure anyone thinks they could post porn or goatse and get away with it.

I'm going to split quote because I can!

DatOneGuy wrote:No spamming.

That's already a rule and gets enforced most of the time (at least when I'm around)

DatOneGuy wrote:A strict rule of either there's no Racism bullshit OR there's no rule for it.

I can't stand racists (in real life) so if I see real racist stuff I will step in (and have before). I find it very very hard to differentiate between racist jokes (which are fine on a rather unmodded channel as far as I'm concerned) and real racist stuff. So y usual course of action is to just kick the guy from the channel. I also do this when you're asking retarded questions. Also I'm going to admit that I usually zone out when these things happen and I just ignore them.

DatOneGuy wrote:Posting links to stuff, I know this is already enforced, it should be stated as an obvious rule, posting to obscene shit should be a ban, I almost vomitted while eating once when that dude you banned after posted some gore.

If you give me evidence of someone posting links to porn/filesharing/goatse they are going to get banned. Period.

DatOneGuy wrote:As for the 'disagreeing/arguing/talking back to a mod = ban' that's absolute bullshit imo, the IRC while 'unofficial' is essentially a 'public forum' for most people and we talk freely in there, if a mod kills you and you start calling them a faggot for it, why is that any different than if some random user killed you and you start calling them a faggot?

Is this even enforced? As far as I know it isn't. I've never seen avu banned for longer than 1 minute, or you, or anyone else that wasn't a mouthbreading retard. You do realise there's only about 9 people banned from the channel?

Rules
-No Spam
-No Harassment
-No Bad Links
-No Warnings

I would rework #3 a little. And #2 lets a mod kick/ban a person if they are annoying. I don't really care about a rule against racism. While I don't find it amusing in anyway, it reveals who the idiots are.

While they mods may not go around waiving the banhammer, I've watched them kick people for amusement. Nobody will take this IRC channel seriously while this is the case.

+1 for Exewu D1G Warped abagraba and Oddity
they are all very helpful, connect to IRC often and i don't think they will abuse their power.
Although i tihnk they can be helpful without being moderators.
And as for rules, i agree mostly, but i want to add that all that 'russians vile scum' talk is not good too (yeah that's my point lol, you all know why).
