Uhm, no. This combat system was implemented like midway through World 2. Remember, there was this test server for it that nobody was using, so they moved it to main server without a restart or anything.

The main change really was the move to limited resources from quality notes and trees, as well as mandatory wilderness spawns. All this resulted in a somewhat different economy, which required a clean start.

Could have sworn they put in this combat system only a few weeks before World 2 was reset.

Well, I know the current MM system was put in a while before the complete combat system.
And, yeah, my memory isn't the best.

Hmmm, the combat system came out
2 weeks before reset, i remember
because i looked at the armor value
and realised killing people in WV
wouldn't be as easy with my bow
idol as it would before then decided
to BS the rest of the world.

Another useless point:
WV used the original test server to find villages to raid. Because Loftorb didn't think to make it it's own map. :P
That's how we found Crimson Isle and a few others.

this was actually quite a smart move intelligencewise. it was one of the points, that made WV so dangerous, not only the a single bug abuse, but deeper insight in game mechanics and a bunch of people using their brain. :D
