Why do we start with a fishing pole?

give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. teach a man to fish, and you've just ruined a wonderful business opportunity.

We need to start with things we have the skills use. So NO fishing poles, and NO swords.

Seeds would be nice but once again, we don't have the farming skill at the start.

It might not be the right translation, atleast according to superchazard, but I find this one somehow funny and ironic. In today's culture, it often proves to be enough to give someone access to the internet to learn stuff. Atleast that's what I've experienced from myself. Therefore we could take this as the modernized, reinterpreted version of this milennia-old proverb
