Considering the effort and expense needed to build a large wall, would anyone want to do this for a temporary settlement?

As far as small-scale protection goes, it'd be nice if we could lock the doors to cabins.

Also, whining about whining is ironic.

Colbear wrote:Seriously, it's not going to be THAT hard. You can build palisades without anything but a stone axe, OR you can import brick pretty easily from altvaults. And, hey, thieves can't get metal either! So they won't have an advantage there, so YOU can always go right back and smash them for stuff or kill them or whatever. Or you can set up a small perimeter while making a mine, and just have people keep an eye on it.

You're just whining because you can't play an entire village by yourself. Hint: you're not meant to.

I am hoping that I'll be able to bring lots of alt vaults to the new world - but not really expecting it. One of the devs posted that he considered it OK to have what one's character can carry, not OK to have a small army of alts, but wasn't sure how he intended to deal with it. I'm now concerned on the one hand that I'll only get to keep one of my characters across the map reset - and on the other that any provision that allows multiple characters will also allow alt vaults, but the usual suspects will manage to create a giant mess for everyone else by using them (e.g. for clues, or just for the resources to wall in the start point, or ....)

Many people find their own faults particularly irritating in others. The Christians have a saying about it - something about the log in one's own eye obscuring the speck in one's brother's eye.

This is why a map reset along with a full character reset would be the way to go. No one would have the black art skills immediately, and this will give everyone time to build their little forts to hide their precious pixels inside.

Haven't you read any of the relevant threads? The map will be theoretically 'infinitely' expandable. In practice I'm sure it will have many bugs and crashes and memory limitations until it theoretically goes gold.
i guess they never miss huh
