While I sympathise with the loss of his character, why does he continue to complain about it? The situation was explained to him, so now he should understand what went wrong. In the end, it was his own fault even if he didn't realise it.

I'm assuming by bias you mean "neither with him nor against him", i.e. biased towards completel neutrality.

You won't make me care about a thief, nor will you make me hate him for being one. Karma simply did its job here. I would hope he creates a new character and continues playing, learn from his mistakes as we all have to, and not spend his time complaining about it on the forums.

If he actually has any questions or wants help understanding something, I'd be happy to help him if I can, as I'm sure most other people would too. But if all he wants to do is bitch about losing his character to a Ranger, well, isn't that something we've heard a hundred times already? Keep that stuff to 'In Congress Assembled'.

I honestly can't say why everyone is so insistent on telling me to stop complaining. I made this thread because I honestly thought that the disappearance of my character must have been a database glitch or some other oddity. Had I known that it was possible for people to summon me wherever if I didn't have an hf, I would have saved myself a lot of time. By destroying my hearth fire, I wasn't trying to be sneaky, evasive of trackers, or any of that; I simply had no use (that I knew of) for a hearth fire at the time so I didn't bother making one.

Because in real life you totally get a warning about "Hey, if you steal from this guy and make it easy as piss to track you, maybe he'll take revenge". That's totally how it works.

You people never understand that this game is meant to reflect real-life happenings. You steal in real life, you're punished for it. Simple as that. They don't have to warn you.

Also noteable, in real life people do not teleport you to their side so that they can kill you while you have no control of your body.
Just a thought.

I also don't care to argue about this much longer (as if there was anything to argue over). I'm not complaining that my character died, and I'm not going to beg the devs to resurrect it. I just think that issues like that should be addressed, similar to the manner that swimming was.

Theft is a feature of the game. Games do not have karma involved and I am not a bad person for utilizing a skill that the game has given me.
Nonetheless, the game would also be pretty boring with no enemies.

It is hard for me to become more educated about a game that does not present much information ingame or have a reliable and accurate wiki.
I try to read the forums often, but honestly they're so slow that I don't like to use them unless I'm watching a topic that I posted myself.

I can use color tags too. But I shouldn't need to, because that was a complete sentence and obviously you only read half of it. Understand neutrality, kthx.

The word "thief" is simply a descriptor. Garret is a thief, and he's fucking awesome. :)

Yes, the information was missing. No, he can't be faulted for not knowing he'd be tracked and killed. He knows now, though, so there's no more point to complaining about it, is there? So what exactly is your problem?

Here's a fun anecdote.

One time, I had a friend who always paid his taxes.
However, there was a secret tax that he didn't know about, a tax that didn't show up on his tax reports and a tax that he didn't get notified about for not paying. The tax was small; he would have had no problem paying it if only he knew he had to. My friend went about his days, clueless that he was in fact violating the law. He continued happily until one day, an agent took him to jail for not paying his taxes. He was sentenced years in prison for a white collar crime that he didn't know you could commit. A mistake he didn't know he could make.

But he knows now, so it's OK I suppose.
