I say that they should remove LP gain from murdering people.

Is it then worth the risk of being hunted down, for killing someone for fun?

Really, Mining LP needed a nerf bad, i was getting 54LP twice every second and only having to stop every 3-4 minutes to drink some Q50 water then do it all over again, I was making around 100k in an hour and I'm already getting my melee and UA over 100 in just a few weeks. Ive already met some nice Koreans that are pushing 200+melee.

You and they should be nerfed as well...

dont worry, its just alpha stage, so there will be many worlds to come, altough, I really hate that at the beginning, everyone had like 500k LP from start, and now, u barely get 10k :(

To me this game is, in no uncertain terms, the epitome of grind.

I admit my thinking is affected by years of min/maxing. But when
I log in I pick a goal: say, a new character able to kill animals. Then it becomes
an optimization problem -- most Lp for least time. If that means deforesting, I
deforest. Cutlery, buckets, . . . there will always be one item that reaches that
sweet spot of efficiency.

Additionally, when you have this many people playing it doesn't take long for that
best route to be located either. If your goal is a skill to a certain level if you're doing
anything but the fastest grind, you're wasting -more- time. Look at any game that has
tried to have variety through player choice. If you're playing with the intent to "have fun"
it's different. But not if you're looking to seriously compete skill-level wise.

Must have something to do with the maths and numbers shown. Look at Warcraft, there may
as well be no talents and only one button to press. People are crunching high level models
to optimize that garbage. Again, don't get me wrong. If your goal is to socialize or just log on
and arbitrarily do things that's fine. I'm saying that when I log in I can't help but feel -absolutely-
compelled to do the best thing leading to the goal I choose.

I just can't help thinking this way. I look at farming and immediately start crunching
numbers, twenty hours per growth cycle, etc. Nothing but a math problem disguised
in clicking to waste time. Granted there have been some good changes, I remember
when It took a thousand apples to give hunger back -- that's asinine. I actually loading
a macro program to set it up to eat for me. If this game is trying to not be "grindy" it's
evolving to emphasize it more and more.

It's likely just my own struggle with the idea this is a sandbox. That this entails me
deciding what my goals are and rewarding myself for accomplishing them.

The problem isn't that mining was nerfed in my opinion, its that buckets weren't. Seriously people have been all "Herp-derp grind buckets" since world 3 and still no big nerf to it?

Honestly it should probably be nerfed just to see the reaction from all the bums that do it, but really it's not like it's game breaking or amazing LP or anything. Any half competent person can get twice the LP of buckets all while building up their claim and doing useful tasks. People just bucketgrind because they're lazy scum, not because it's amazing LP or anything.

All nerfing it would do would increase the amount of trees that the grinders would cut down.
