No bear no boar not even a fox!

I just started two days ago so I dont really know what I am talking about. However, in an effort to keep my hungry character from starving I used to only be able to find mice. Recently I learned how to catch a rabbit (I really enjoy the sound made when wringing a rabbit). Ive seen a couple boars but they killed me. No bears, but im not complaining about that. No herds, which sound interesting, what type of land is more likely to have a herd of something? i need leather.

Honestly? Aurochs (which are tamed to cows later), deer, and mouflon (goats which you can later tame to be sheep) will kill you just as well as a bear or boar in the beginning. Especially since herds like to participate in communal beatdowns.

Stick with rabbits - or learn for yourself, experience being the best teacher - and move on to foxes when you think you're ready.

I found a herd of mouflon, fenced them in with signs, and began picking them off one by one. One time, a herd spawn at my house. It was a turkey shoot. I just stood within my fence, gates closed, pelting them to death with stones from my boulder. Took FOREVER, though.

Update: when ranging, not paying attention to my surroundings, I got raped by a bear. LOL
luckily I got away with my life...somehow.

I went out for bear and deer last night... 3 hours later i had about 12 dead boar and 0 bear/deer

I hunted for 2 hours and finally got a bear... Now I don't want to waste bear hide and teeth because my psy and sewing are low
And I was so excited when I found one at last...
