I work overseas from remote, so it doesn't affect me directly; we are still having company operations and computers are still breaking down. That said, the damage to the prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima is why we have missing employees. President Yamamoto wrote that they were priorizing the current recovery of the Japanese situation over anything else business way; the emergency response team of the company has been working tirelessly since Sunday.

Its honestly been inspiring to see a company that cares so much for its employees and actually acts to help them. One of the pleasures of working for the Japanese.

And the massive toll comes from the fact that Fujitsu, like Mitsui, is huge. As far as I'm aware, we and our clients do everything from ship building to laptops. Its insane and mind-boggling. A megacorp of doom it is.

I had no idea the company was so big.

Although bad news, seems the latest out of the reactor is that its getting worse. There has been another explosion and now the 4th on site reactor is damaged...
Have to see how this one turns out.

Its not a pleasant situation, that's for certain. I'm hopeful at least that there won't be a meltdown, but there's not much to be said for the release of radiation into the air. And as for our size:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fujitsu

I don't know how large Fujitsu is in Japan itself; I actually work from the United States as a liasion between the Chinese and the Japanese locations. According to their information, though, they have over 185k employees; I'm glad I only mostly talk to Shanghai and just one department in Tokyo.

I've heard that 50 employees remained to fight the fire on the 4th reactor while the other 800 withdrew. High props to those 50.

Would probably be inappropriate of me to edit that wikipedia article to 184,000 now.

But anyway, its getting a little late here and we have scheduled power black outs shortly. Nice chatting, you've made my night.

You speak only the truth.
Well I guess it should be locked before the explosive diarrhea(probably fail spelling) flows out of the thread to other topics and we loose the forums.
Am I not right?

But it was a perfectly good thread and much higher quality than most of the rest of the stuff running around on the board being discussed.
