His trade doesn't sound stupid. It's not about man you're asking 100 flotsams for a pearl stupid who'd be stupid enough to buy that. It's about someone introducing real life money into the game trading practices and you being apparently ok with it. Should we start now converting all our points systems to dollars? After all dollars are a lot more stable than points. He's not even in the same category of trade sounding stupid. Stupid enters the equations after people agree it's a legitimate trade then someone potentially getting shafted by it being a bad trade.

again with slippery slopes? who would do this?

more concerned with people sidetracking what appears to be a honest trade thread than the trade itself, which sounds bizarre

also i cant take you seriously with that avatar, im done for now

People with more money than brains? You think they don't exist? They're everywhere. And let me get this straight your argument here is this is unlikely to happen so we won't do anything about it? You're basically legitimizing them. With jorb and loftar gone on the road of real life jobs and money making the mods here are the only arbitration we got and you're saying it's ok because I don't think it will proliferate? :| What kind of fucking reasoning is that?

i completely agree with Avu here.

Jackard, im afriad you are actually encouraging a lot of others to follow this trade by your modding.
voedoo's trading thread was divided once by burg and then re-merged again by others' requests. i believe the same should be applied in this case too. people have the right to know what other players think.

Investing real life money in this game would be a very risky and only temporary feature.:

  1. Reset- When there is a server issue such as world 3 corruption without back-up or new features and large scale game-play changes such as world 4 needs to introduce curiosity, the developers will require everything to be reset. As of the writing of this post, only world 1 to 2 reset had something that remain persistent and that was the characters and all of others simply undergone complete recreation of the world
  2. Not supported- If a transaction goes wrong, someone tries to scam you and/or use it as a mean to kill you and steal money, or anything with Murphy's Law decides to throw at you. you will not be reimbursed and any losses that you take will be your own responsibility.
  3. Loss of item- A sub reason of above. Again if you get killed any curiosity you used will not be reimbursed, including any troll skulls and capes. Likewise, any paid item can be looted off of your corpse or pillaged from your village are likewise lost. And then there is simply being stolen by merely using theft.

the difference there being that that was NOT a derail; those people were discussing the reputation/deeds of the trader himself

i don't believe ive made an exception or treated this trade thread any differently than i have others in the past

My point is it should be treated different since it's not a legitimate thread!

As with most online games, the problem with allowing people to pretty much buy in-game items is, it becomes very unbalanced, very quickly. A rich 9 year old can find himself buying q100+ swords, q100+ Dhelms and a hefty pocket of the best curios.

Given that, he can wind up rivalling alot of months-old players within a month. Mix that with the fact that he's a child, somebody says something wrong to him - kapow! He Palibashes and kills the entire village.

I would never support the mechanic of out-of-game shops for in-game items, which is basically what the market could turn into, as rich kids show up...

...However, there are three balances;
1. Difficult combat system
2. People Power
3. World Resets

1. Newbies can't even grasp the combat system, and even the under-12s can barely grasp it still.
2. Whenever a big murderer shows up in-game, everybody seems to turn against him.
3. With World Resets, I find it highly plausible that these kids will ragequit the game.

Problem solved.
Grand Walker of World 1 (w1).
Ex-Lawspeaker of New London, Deadwood and New Deadwood (w3).
Witness of the World 4 Great Explosion (w4).
Ex-Lawspeaker of Gregminster (w5).
Ex-Lawspeaker of Laketown (w6).
Squatter and Rebuilder of Templus Pacis (w6).
Hermit thereafter.
Lawspeaker of Tachbrookshire (Hafen 2)

There is nothing for or against it in the rules. However there IS rules against flaming and trolling, if you want to complain about irl transactions or some other bullshit do it where it belongs in your own thread at the appropriate location.
