I like that video, not 100% sure about the new "health-bar" tho. But I guess it gets better when you're used to it =)

Well to sum up my visit on Gamescom briefly before I forget to write about it completely: The convention itself sucks. Giant freakshow where most people reinforce the clicheé of the basement dwelling nerd (no offense to anyone here) or desperately try to get away from it and fail. No interesting games there presented at all besides the big titles everybody knows about anyway. To test those for 5 minutes you have to stand in line for hours (which we obviously did not do) and besides that it is just loud and the air is bad.

The evening with the 2 devs was lovely (in before anal friend). As Jorb already said we had quite alot of beer and Sauerkraut, which I probably didn't eat for a longer amount of time than our two devs. I was glad to see that the two feel genuinly sorry for not having more time for HnH. So all the players in doubt about their intentions can calm down. They were eager to hear all the stories I could present them about world 5 and to hear all the systems, mechanics, mods and bots that are in use now trying to analyze what that says about their own game mechanics and how good they are. I tried to step away from my role as a player as much as possible there and give an overview from an objective perspective. Even our russian enemies/friends I gave credit for their quite successful warfare ;)

From what insights the two were willing to give me I can assure to everyone that nothing could be further from the truth than that they have abandoned us. Plans are quite big, but I will leave it to them to present those to the public when they have the time for it and feel like it is the rigth thing to do. Expect big things though once Salem is finished.

Salem itself I only tested when we already had most of our beer, but was still nice to see a bit about it. Quite a few interesting mechanics there and I will definitely enjoy testing it. Mine and the devs focus was on Haven and other things than Salem that night, especially since they had given countless presentations on it the last days already. But some things I saw there I would love to have in Haven too. So lets hope we profit from their work with a bigger team there.

P.S: Where is that photo Loftar took? :P

thanks for your report, burg.
i saw some photos on Japanese game sites how people all lined up waiting for their turn for ages... too bad no article Ive checked mentioned any of Jorb and Loftar's or Paradox at all, though.
glad to hear that they have now acknowledged what has been going on, and looking forward to hearing more in details from them directly as well. (and pics loftar took? cant wait!)

btw, Sauerkraut alone...? ive only had some with hotdogs, but real german native sauerkraut must taste good ;)

let's look at it this way instead....Beta will probably start soon and Jorb has said that we (Haven players) are sort of first in line for it, so I imagine most of us will be beta testing Salem until it's finished, in which case, it's not like we won't have something to do in the wait for new haven updates. :P
