I use the default client... And I love the game...
I would only like adjustable zoom.... I like the "challenge" of wandering caves with a torch, etc...
Though I would be at a terrible disadvantage should I wander into the wrong cave and people had night vision etc...

Default client would be fun to use if the window were resizeable and had more hotbar options and a new interface. Otherwise, no thanks. Oh and only if some of Daji's graphics (such as trees) were used. ;)

Oh, and redo lighting (such as light given off by candles, etc). Make the light radius larger and make candelabras stay lit forever. And redo the mining system somewhat so it's not such a bitch to have to snake mine (would be a major headache without Ender's grid lines).

Why do you suggest there be any upkeep at all? What spurs you to do that?

I believe all light sources should be permanent and there should be more natural light sources, a light glow from swamps for example. Also lower the darkness of night and remove the brown filter from dusk/dawn.
This has nothing to do with balance of any kind, these changes will just make the game possible to play without Night vision and make the entire game more beautiful.

Potjeh, I was a little heartbroken when they added the IP counter... I had actually had.. "practiced" being able to keep count of my enemies IP so I could mess with there strats (even punch spam) using throw sand. And to people who used it against me, if they didn't pay attention, I could hope they didn't miss me charing an extra time before the punch, or using DoG, so they could throw sand presumably bringing me down to 4 IP, but actually leaving me at 6.
You may have foiled the plans of BAD-EVIL this time, but there is no rest for the wicked.

My big issue with the main client is that I somehow almost always manage to log in at night time. So, without Enders, I'd be forced to always farm/forage in pitch black. This way my hearthling is working only at the time it makes the most sense for her to be working: in broad daylight. When the auth server was down and I couldn't log on using enders, I played the game a LOT less, just because it was usually too dark to do anything (well, that and I didn't realize that you could access global chat without the client lol). I know night only lasts 8 hours...but still, that's 8 hours of prime playing time for me wasted. Anyway, that's my newbie two cents.

The only thing i really miss in the normal client are a zoom out view (really too small the area of standard client), a fire that stay for Hours and not for few minuts, a nice way to see beasts behind a tree that see you but you don't see that.

Those are what the game need to be playable whitout the Stress of a bad gameplay client.
X-ray, Nightvision, and other weird stuffs are nice but not so usefull. I've explored caves with torchs, draw the road on a paper, enjoyed this fun, but a torch that light 4 tile is useless...So i've gived up.

Upkeep itself is not a bad idea. Upkeep=pure player clicks is like the old LP system, It's grindy. Rather, Upkeep as a measurement of resource consumption should be what is happening and should be done because having light provides benefits, rather than spending to maintain normal functionality.

Examples of this kind of 'upkeep' currently in the game: Tea, Hemp Tobacco, alcohol, etc.

The idea being that light provides benefits, rather than making it a pain in the ass. Turning on the light map becomes a source of information. It can also 'buff' or counter a perception debuff or soemthing along those lines. Tbh that's a shitty idea, it's just an example of implementing benefits to the game for using the light map. Upkeep should represent an expendature of resources in exchange for benefit, not actual maintenance.

Also, what Delamore said. Using the lightmap shouldn't give me a headache.

Fail, yes you could, if only you had mucked about to find the solution that several players even wrote scripts for both linux and windows clients to workaround.

I saw the "workaround", and didn't understand it, nor wish to go to all that trouble every time I wanted to log in. However, I did solve this problem before the Auth server was fixed by finding the client launcher posted on these forums. However, I played for a few days before I found that post.
