Only if he doesn't know what's he doing.

Bring me a guy with 1k UA and i'll show
ya a little trick =o

99% of the playerbase doesn't know what
they're doing. the majority will get 6, flex
and punch, slide, flex, punch, panic, run
die.

The only people i've actually seen fight
different than that in an actual combat
situation would be my boys from Airnan...

Heck, all RUA i've ran into just jump punches

Also @ Mopstar; There are ways to throw
in moves, other than no pain, that no one
ever sees happen, No pain is mainly a 1v1
thing and if used properly will win it for you
all in a single swipe

I think I told you and Nao already, but for the rest: The devs said they had Magic the Gathering in mind when developing this combat system. There too you have constantly shifting metagames based on a rock/paper/scissor principle when you play on a competitive level. Magic constantly introduces new cards btw, just saying Jorb ;)

Thus far, with all my ant punching experience, I fall into this damned 99%.
Alas, one day I hope to master the weirding way of the hearth and join the 1%.

The tooltip on 'dodge' and 'shield' do not state what these two maneuvers do. The wiki states the effects are "none", is this true? Is there a point to these skills, or do I switch to one of the two (that which is more potent depending on equipment and combat levels) when I expect an incoming attack?

Dodge uses your exact UA as defence and
doesn't take away any of your bars or
negatively effect you in anyway. Shield uses
125% of your MC while it also has no
instant side effects.

Eh... maybe my view on the combat system was indeed a bit to glum if the numbers here are to be believed. When said friend kicked the daises I thought I was in for an eternal race for stats but he probably ran into some of the worst opponents you can meet out there in terms of stats. The number 750 was deducted from the hit he made on the enemy's def bar with one punch btw (his own UA being 500).

I also did not consider that there may be more effective ways to fight than to take the obvious route everyone seems to choose. And... I still have my doubts but maybe I should indeed spar more often and try different stuff. I was content just to have the hang of it, never thought my methods could be improved considerably. In fact I always thought defeating an opponent who has twice your UA or MC was just a lot of bragging on the forum (with maybe the occasional truly retarded opponent thrown in) but the Ainran guys seem to be quite serious about this here.
I'm still ashamed and embarrassed about my last post. There are many small reasons but no real excuse for what I said in the end. All that remains is regret because I won't be able to make up for it again.

See you in a different game maybe. Hopefully without retardation from my side.

it seemz the only way to learn pvp in this game is to be taught by another player, it's annoying to not know any pro people

Or you could... become pro. Teach yourself
the basics and add creativity: GG

Yeah, id' just say.. spar lots... fight lots, die a few times even :P Cutlass taught NaoWhut how to fight, and NaoWhut taught me how to fight, but I solo'd all through w4 and just found out some things on my own.. it's just about being creative, experimental, and inovative, it might be nice to know what we are up to so you can expand on that I suppose, but who knows, maybe you will found some new fighting style yourself.

I can still punch while wielding something in both hands. Does that greatly reduce it's effectiveness?

I could use some advice in meleeing deer, too. I have 107/110 UA/MC and I can take down lower level deer easily with charge x6, flex, oak stance, punch, flex, punch, flex, sting. Higher level deer are another matter. I try to flex punch them but by the time I get their bar down a little ways and my defense to full or near it they are starting to stack advantage on me. If I valorous strike they're down to 0, but then by the time I can act again they've stacked 2 advantage on me.

My initial idea on how to change this and go for a quick 1-sting kill was charge x 6, flex, oak stance, NPNG, punch, flex, bloodlust, sting.

Thoughts?

I live in a 3 man village, sparring doesnt teach me much when these ppl know as much as I do about PvP

PvP outside of spar is just really hard to find, like nao said 99% are just clueless but thats probs cuz 95% of everybody you meet is generally a completely newb who havent even figured the curiosity system yet nvm anything else

sparring outside this village is also hard to find, can hardly pop round to someones village and say "hi wanna spar?" last time I did this caused so much lolrage

and then there's the fact that most pro ppl are just not very trust worthy, if they say "ILL TEECH U :£ JUST POP ROUND TO PANDE", im like nothx

and not to mention fights with armour are so much different than without armour yet you can hardly spar with armour unless your some rich guy with infinite supply of the stuff

for now we're just make do with wat we have and will spar each other trying out all the different possible actions, though in actual pvp I got to say we totally lack experience and probably get killed in 1 hit lol
