A money system without a way to make it law, can't be done, of course. But before the "money" there was society also in real life. Simply we know the money system like the better system we have...but well, we dont need it. Surely we need a better trade, colonization, regions, wars, being part of big city that have a big task and so on. So, give ourself something to do.

Personally i cant play whitout have in my mind why i'm playing for. Actually i have little projects, but if there will be the chanche, i'll already knwo what i want to do later, and are lots of bigger projects that probably could create new games for me or others, and so on.

This is a free world, and is what mostly make me play the game also if is fulfilled of bad things.
If the game is free, we are free to create a new type of game. The better we like.

Give it time. There's little enough land that SOMEONE is going to come bashing through your door looking for resources if they think a node might be there.

ninja_yodeler wrote: Instead of world expansions every time a world gets into a stalemate or end of resource war, they ought to implement a system that would change nodes over time, so new nodes are always coming and going over the course of a few months or weeks. But because this would be extremly complicated ( I think) it would have to wait, and this post is totally irrelevant now. :)

While this is a good idea, I was trying to ask for something simple that doesn't require a bunch of redesigning of the current map system. Anything that needs to be redesigned absolutely will not come before the launch of Salem. (I say absolutely, but hey, you never know what kind of free time Loftar and Jorb might have to design and code something up. It appears Loftar has been working on the lag issues when he has the opportunity to do so.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I don't agree with making q nodes dynamic until there is a better way to check resource q. Also, this would make any map location about as good as the next one, which doesn't seem right to me.

i agree with this, i think that having certain areas more advantageous than others is important

Yeah but having geographical areas being more important is useless when a single player or small group can control half the world's resources through alt claims. It would be better if these advantageous regions were more than random small nodes of resources. Have an entire SG have particularly good clay, but the downside is that it's soil overall isn't that good. Whereas the next SG over might not have good clay nodes, but has good farming soil.

Currently, individual supergrids really aren't different from their neighbors; they all have good and bad nodes sporadically dispersed among them. Whatever specialized sites each SG has are just that; small sites that can be easily controlled once found. There is no regional importance over other regions; the closest to that is what regions are already developed and controlled; which is more dependant on who is already established and living there.

Of course because of that I agree that adding new SGs to the current world wouldn't do much; just more space for the same stuff.

There are several areas here that are ripe for new development:
  • There should be a way to take/fight over resources, both between individuals, and between villages
  • There should be an easier way to see/divine resource q. I wrote about this a while ago in the IP:
Onionfighter wrote:One way to increase the value of maps would be to include some sort of geological survey function that would map quality points. This would rather drastically change resource exploration, however.
  • Better map generation could be huge, especially if there are more regional resources. I think Loftar has said he has some ideas for this once they get back to working on H&H, so cross your fingers!
  • Though there is a big division of opinion over this, but I think removing teleportation could help with limiting villages to having control only over their own regional resources.

I agree with limiting or removing teleportation, but only if gates were much more accessible than they currently are (authority and/or permission based), and there were more functions for water crossings (natural fords or better livestock transport). I really like the idea of making Cartography a viable action again, as well. :)

Agreed. Fixing gates and then removing teleportation would help with 1 group controlling all resources. Its also a big nerf to vaults :D
