how I always did it was to keep metal stockpiled. depending on how many people are in the village, I usually have 1 or 2 picks, why? because I usually do the mining, and the stone axes are usually better. and I make the tools as they are needed, need drops off pretty quickly of coarse, and because I crush most of the uppity nubs when they crop up, we don't normally have a lot of needy people. the ones who are too needy will either slip up and do something stupid, giving you an excuse to get rid of them, leave, or quit.

I had one guy in W3 who wanted to be payed 2 bars of metal a week for doing the job of repairing things. he was a good guy, but he wanted a lot of things. prolly would have shaped up to be a good member of the village if I hadn't mistakenly drove him away.

You don't actually have three* MC fighters in your village do you?

You may have foiled the plans of BAD-EVIL this time, but there is no rest for the wicked.

My poor shiny bars...

On the topic, militia swords before making all necessary instruments, cauldron, meat grinder and WALL was a stupid step. However, can't imagine how low your metal output is, if you have a discovered node and those things were the only you could afford. Do your work and there won't be complaints.

Ah, I didn't want to say anything when this was going on cause I was not there for the whole story.
Making those swords was kinda stupid, I don't believe you guys have any MC or know how to use it if you did.

I agree with the others: Save up for wrought for a brickwall.
But I don't see that happening in the current village set up you have right now.

Also try to share with the farmers: plows and scythes.
Picks for general use is also nice, makes paving less of a pain in the ass.
You also never know when a villager is out exploring and comes across a cave. He may find an ore deposit out of luck.

the whole thing is already brought to the point - best was De Bosh:

3 ppl minining - very low output...not the distribution of tools is the flaw...

what

my village usually has one dude mining ever, and hes filled countless cupboards with wrought iron. its all a matter of how much effort they put in, and how efficient their mining system is. :P

I'd make a grinder even before picks. Miners need sausages more than anything.
