True fact. It could just confuse new players.

It could and did, but that was part of the fun. I found from experience that the vast majority of the time, you would actually get good informative answers from helpful people on global. I know that I was fairly active on global when my buddies weren't on, and I helped out the odd newbie here and there.

I don't fundamentally disagree with any of the arguments on here as to why global sucked, my point is that if you agree that it sucked and saw no value in it, you literally never had to see it? Afaik it wasn't giving anyone any sort of unfair advantage ingame, certainly no more than IRC represents, if thats a main concern (and jorb and loftar participate in that, which i take as an endorsment), even tho I saw a couple people spamming it at extremely high rates of speed a couple times, it never crashed my client, and when that happened, I pressed ctrlc for 10 minutes until they tired themselves out. As i mentioned before, if high-speed spamming is the reason it was shut off, a simple rate-limiter would have fixed that problem?

The only valid reason that I can see to removing it is because J&L don't like it, which is fine and of course their call to make. I only feel that it once again makes the game more unfairly balanced (even tho it doesn't really affect game balance, just fun-ness) against hermits/semi-hermits.

Haha, what? Don't go speaking for all of us like we're all on the same page here. I choose to be a hermit because I want to get away from, for lack of a kinder word, morons and griefers. Maybe it's just my bad luck but whenever I lived near someone I'd either get attacked or robbed or vandalized, not to mention random people setting up their newbie camps near my home like vagrant squatters and never giving me a moment's peace. Global chat was just like that only in text form. Nothing helpful that I've ever seen was said there that one couldn't find for themselves on the forum or wiki. It was basically treated like a personal chat room for a select few and those who actually asked serious questions were usually griefed or trolled. As far as I can see global chat was removed because it wasn't being used as it was meant to be used, a place where people can discuss (in a mature manner) H&H and help eachother with whatever questions one might have. Now it's not like I'm strictly against talking about anything else other than H&H, but that shouldn't stop people from taking a minute to help someone instead of bury them in trollish satire.

This. The only thing I've ever learned about on global chat, that wasn't on the wiki or forum, was the ability to use a dowsing rod to reroll your chances of seeing nearby foragables and scents.

I remember many people, specifically a person called "Jova Morn," who flat out refused to utilize the wiki, because global chat was available. "i dont like reading"

I don't think I ever presumed to speak for you or implied that I was speaking for anyone but myself, everything I have posted here is simply my opinion. I only mean that when you are part of a large village or an experienced group of players, perhaps you never ever looked at global chat, because you always had someone to chat with. When i am alone, I am now completely alone. Sure, there were lots of people who weren't using global for mature discussion, but for those of us who were, we now have to go without because of that? I was actually one of the people who talked little, ignored trolling and idiots, and tried to be as helpful as I could. I think it should be up to me whether I find the stuff being said on there useful, not having the decision made for me by removing the feature.

To both of you: the great thing was that if you didn't enjoy the idiots and trolls, ctrl c solved all your problems. Anyhow i digress, the decision has been made, I just wanted to voice my opinion about it.

Your opinion is very one sided and biased, I personally saw a lot people helping other's all the time. Of course someone would troll, but most of the time people would help. I for one would help. When dumb ass's started spamming it up I would just turn it off for a while. What the hell's the big deal? I can appreciate everyone's opinion, but to have an opinion you should look at it from both sides to have full understanding.

I wasn't saying that's all that was ever going on in global chat, but a majority of it was, and that is probably why it was removed, among other things. I guess I need to start bolding things now.
