Like ewlol said, you have to take it's size into account. You'd get more LP if you studied those pearls and used the extra 3 slots for stuff like edelweiss, glimermoss etc.

I love how just because a mod started a post there is a page of spam about the faction he is in and how he over uses his power as a mod. Seriously?

I had once (almost) bought a troll skull for 30 or so pearls but decided against it. I think pearls are more important, however finding pearls is relatively easy and there is a greater chance of finding 50 pearls then 1 troll. Over the span of world 5 I found close to 60+ pearls but not a single troll.

1 troll = 87 pearls, everytime to put in study your pearls is annoying.

Good players learning pearls and this way is easier. Start to play and you'll understand what's going on in the game.

I played this game three times as much and three times as successful as you, so shut up about that. You got kicked up and down the hearthlands by my villages once too much it seems. This is not the point of this topic and I am allowed to ask any kind of question I want. That is what the forums are for.

You are basically already contradicting yourself there. If good players are learning pearls (and annoying really doesn't count, you are using a study bot anyway, dont tell me you are not) then why would they buy the skull? The numbers are just supporting my argument so I am asking has anyone ever paid you 50 pearls for a skull?

Edit: Just to clarify this since you guys would even think I am gunning against you if I made a thread about how the easter bunny isn't real: I am trying to open up a general discussion on prices. Many things seems to be taken for granted right now, but when I look through the trade topics I often feel like I wouldn't pay so much for a certain product, or that I as a trader would even charge more for some things. So this is supposed to be a platform for traders as well as customers to voice their opinions. The example at hand was just the latest that let me have such thoughts.

No, you stop.

It is a long lasting grudge between our factions and for some reason they believe I would care about that as a person blabla. Not the point of this thread as I said though so let us keep this on topic. You can find out some things about the grudge if you read up on w5 Congress, topics like "Taar is burning" for example. Because i am still very proud of my best raid ever, a bug raid!

@Patch: Well, the system seems to have become quite static though to me. Most traders have very similar prices on the most common trade goods and I question some of those prices.

I'd offer to buy the troll skull using someone else's name
then slaughter them with a sumonning alt and an elaborate
story justifying my means of earning their trust and getting
people in there

While I like drama now and then, the Burgingham bashing is starting to become annoying when I have to read it on every other topic. It's becoming Robert Bear quality staleness.

On topic, you will alway find someone that is going to be ignorant of pprice optimum range. You have two choices: give them a fair price or exploit it witth various degree of medium in between. Exploiting them seems like an asshole move but that's capitalism, love it or hate it.

I'm not even sure why that kind of thread is needed.

If someone wants to offer goods for xy price, he has it, he can. If someone wants to buy, he wants, he will.

Items are valuable as much as buyer is willing to pay (will pay) for them.

I have on my list that I would buy troll skull for 20 pearls, but I would never sell one for that price, I'd go for 40-50 too.

And while you are accusing for example Badich for having high price on it, on other hand no one is accusing all other topics where people sell for example ranger gear or everything else for much too cheap or q145+ boards for 12 or so points?! If we are talking about prices, we might at least take everything in consideration ;)

And my thought summed up about troll skull or 50 pearls: I'd go for troll skull since i'm lazy to put pearls every hour in my study window (if I'd have bot, I'd reconsider for sure).

I'd say people lowering prices are much worse than people that have too high prices. But its just my opinion ;)

Shocked Frog prices seem weird to me

Shocked Frog - 60
Pearls - 50

Ramo, it was just the example I saw leading me to make this thread. There are plenty of other prices that are just as weird to me and I stated I would like to have a general discussion about that.

That people lowering prices is worse is of course your opinion as a big merchant. I don't consider ranger gear to be too cheap for example. Silk is pretty easy to mass produce, but well of course there always will and should be a profit margin for those who are able to produce high q goods. Good axes are the most significant example here I guess since they take virtually no effort to make, but I still wouldn't say they are too expensive in most trade chats. The whole proccess that led to towns being able to produce them has to be taken into account there.

It is of course a delicate topic, but I feel that some prices have become too easily accepted by the customers when the goods really aren't worth what they are being sold for. I don't want to say that is in any way the merchants fault. Of course you are trying to make profit and also the same mechanics that let customers accept a certain price lead to merchants using such a price without even thinking about it twice.
