Also, holy crap I only just realised Raephire bumped this topic from 3 weeks old, to mention what he ate for lunch...

Ok, maybe that's too much. If you had a larger boat and it was more automated, though, then sailing for a few hours wouldn't be too bad. I imagine that if it really did take that long, then one might be able to log off until you arrive.
Surprise.

Okay, but now imagine it REALISTICALLY FROM A CURRENT POINT OF VIEW. Having to click your way forward from one island to another for 16 straight hours.

Well, of course that would be boring. But say, a two-hour ride where you can get up and walk around- some arbitrary point in the future- would be a different scenario entirely. Besides, the whole point of an island community would be the remoteness, wouldn't it? It's just not the same if anyone with a boat can get over in half an hour.

Which gives me another great idea, big ships that you can actually walk in like cabins. And which automatically move when you set the direction, and only stop when you moor them.

Good, I was worried the continent would not be complete.

Does anyone besides me think that if this could be transferred to an actual map, then it would be completely awesome?
