Granite 1, year 127After the fall of WatsonX' reign, Fort Ballsacks enjoyed a relative peace. Migrants where steadily filing in. Expertly crafted coffers, cabinets, and doors of stone decorated each living quarter. Traders came and went. Fields of berries and plump helmets where harvested. Many varieties of fine ales, beers, and wines where brewed. And everyone was drunk and happy... But honestly, I found it boring.

We even had a shipment of sunberries from a group of elves. We traded some common quartz for all of it. Stupid fools. They know nothing of the value of the legendary sunshine brew.
Summer:

Goblins! The peasants are troubled. A goblin snatcher was found lurking around the outskirts of the fort entrance. He bolted away as soon as one of our foragers revealed him. Where there is one goblin, there is most likely an ambush just waiting for us. Somewhere... I think it's time to put those lazy peasants to good use. A barracks will be dug near the walls of the entrance to train the army that will one day, save us all.

Another snatcher had been spotted. This time it managed to get to the fisherberry farm. Not good. Already I am drafting peasants to join the grand Ballsack army. We have a single squad of 10...fisherdwarves and glazers. It's not much, but it's definately a start. "The Silver Sockets" is a rather fitting name for the squad. Equipped with the finest, well, fine silver war hammers. It was the best we could do in the time given, and with no iron ore anywhere we will have to depend on copper armor... May Armok have mercy on us...

A goblin spotted on the mountains once again... This one wasn't so lucky as he crossed WatsonX, who unloaded two bolts into his left upper arm and hand. If blood loss doesn't kill him, the irony of his wounds will.
Autumn:
The calm before the storm... No more theives and snatchers for weeks. Tension is rising within the fort, and our military cant train fast enough. With only two capable hammer units, I'm not liking our chances...
On an unrelated note

A particularly strange dwarf had created a drum of alligator bone. He had spent weeks of work on it... I wonder how much it could be sold for.

The storm is finally here. Roughly 10 goblins armed with bows and swords have been spotted on the mountain. We will fight defensively, and hid- I mean wait at the fortress entrance for them to come to us, under the protection of the cave. So their bowmen don't pick us off.

The battle was a huge success. As the goblin swordsmen drew near, our dwarves rushed in and smashed two goblin skulls. Killing them instantly. The other two put up very little resistance. Their bowmen on the otherhand had inflicted many wounds on our units before retreating after their last swordsman had fallen, and fatal wounds on two dwarves which we couldn't make armor for in time.

They died on the way back to the barracks... Statues will be erected at the barracks in their honor, whoever their names where... But for now we celebrate our victory. This is an important milestone for the history of Fort Ballsacks, and "The Silver Sockets". We will no doubt get very, very, drunk.
Winter:
Following the great victory from last season. A new squad had been created to help defend against larger scale invasions. Like The Silver Sockets, they are equipped with silver warhammers and copper armor. Why we can't just make silver armor is unbeknowest to me, considering our bar stock is over flowing with the stuff.

Training consists of climbing the mountain and smashing the skulls of the unfortunate mountain land creatures that come our way, tearing the muscle and lodging the skull into the brain, knocking them unconscous. A good way to kill two birds with one stone by learning to fight and getting food.

While training, we come across a strange, dog-like creature. Who looked somewhat like a goblin. Armed with a silver dagger and clothed with a loin cloth.

He was dealt with. Quickly and efficiently.
Spring:
It is now year 128. The peasants tire of my rule. One of the recruits threw a tantrum and smashed a dwarf's skull in. Right in front of everyone in the dining hall. They demand justice and they say I don't treat the recruits properly. "Overworking them" they say. Hmph. I got tired of ruling anyway. They can go train their own military. Ungrateful Peasants! Tomorrow I am going to raid the barracks and disguise myself as a soldier. With this copper armor, they will never recognize me.

I realized a played for an extra month. Sorry about that. I got a little too into it last night and didn't notice.
