Amanda44 wrote:I'm having terrible trouble with a cat problem. A really mangy looking ginger Tom (no reference to Nao) has moved into my back garden, it turned up about a month ago, and is terrorizing my beautiful little girl.
-old pic- she's few months older now, but, awww, looks cute in this.
He regularly attacks her to the point where she is now too frightened to go in the garden without me - which is difficult when i'm at work all day. She's reverted to using a 'dirtbox' which she hasn't needed since she was a kitten.
I've tried squirting water over the tom, shouting at it, clapping my hands and 'pst' ing at it, lol, nothing works and it's not catchable, it's not particularly scared of me, it sits just out of reach staring at me.
Any suggestions welcome. It's driving me mad!
P.s Don't think it's a sex issue, mine has been done and it doesn't try to mate her anyway - just savagely attacks.

Honestly? There's really only one thing to take care of a territorial stray that's causing problems like that, either a .22 round, or poison. I've had to do it once, and it feels terrible (I hate having to kill animals for what I consider no reason), but unless you can catch it, ending it's life humanely is one of the better options, for both you and your pet. I'd never let a stray cause drastic injury to one of my animals without recompense, one of my cats lost an eye to a tom that just wouldn't go away, so we had to fix the problem. Honestly, it's better then letting an animal shelter do it, as their idea of "Humane" is laughable at best. Try something small first, like food with a lot of gross stuff on it, perhaps cayenne pepper, if that doesn't work, you'll have to decide on your own.
Also; Adorable kitty.

Get a skunk trap. Put some food in it. Catch the little bugger, and take him somewhere else.
