Amanda44 wrote:I'm having terrible trouble with a cat problem. A really mangy looking ginger Tom (no reference to Nao  ) has moved into my back garden, it turned up about a month ago, and is terrorizing my beautiful little girl.

Image -old pic- she's few months older now, but, awww, looks cute in this.

He regularly attacks her to the point where she is now too frightened to go in the garden without me - which is difficult when i'm at work all day. She's reverted to using a 'dirtbox' which she hasn't needed since she was a kitten.

I've tried squirting water over the tom, shouting at it, clapping my hands and 'pst' ing at it, lol, nothing works and it's not catchable, it's not particularly scared of me, it sits just out of reach staring at me.

Any suggestions welcome. It's driving me mad!

P.s Don't think it's a sex issue, mine has been done and it doesn't try to mate her anyway - just savagely attacks.

Honestly? There's really only one thing to take care of a territorial stray that's causing problems like that, either a .22 round, or poison. I've had to do it once, and it feels terrible (I hate having to kill animals for what I consider no reason), but unless you can catch it, ending it's life humanely is one of the better options, for both you and your pet. I'd never let a stray cause drastic injury to one of my animals without recompense, one of my cats lost an eye to a tom that just wouldn't go away, so we had to fix the problem. Honestly, it's better then letting an animal shelter do it, as their idea of "Humane" is laughable at best. Try something small first, like food with a lot of gross stuff on it, perhaps cayenne pepper, if that doesn't work, you'll have to decide on your own.

Also; Adorable kitty.

Get a skunk trap. Put some food in it. Catch the little bugger, and take him somewhere else.

As far as what's happened to me IRL; I recently injured my leg while out with friends, bones are fine, waiting on an MRI to confirm what's wrong, but I've been out of work for almost a month now, and the doctor says I need to be out for at least another month, which sucks something fierce. Very limited mobility, but I'm making due (I suck on crutches, and the way they have my leg immobilized, straight up and down, means I have to hop, rather then use crutches the normal way, plus I live up a flight of stairs.) So, stuck at home, studying scripting and automation to try and get a new job while my old one contemplates firing me (I really hope so, Unemployment is easier to get then Medical Disability, even though the doctor's already approved it, just a lot of red tape.)

As far as everything else in real life? I have amazing friends and family helping me through, one of my friends wants to buy me a wheelchair to take along with us to San Francisco to go see a few Industrial bands playing (And get in first, because that's how it rolls), have game night every Friday with the best D&D group ever, and a loving girlfriend who's taking care of me. All in all, I could be much worse off, and I'm happy I have you guys around as well.

If we had guns over here I would have honestly been tempted, it has already bitten her ear where she needed a shot that cost me £32.00. Poison, i'm not sure I could do it to be honest. Idealy i'd like to catch it - the local R.S.P.C.A have said they'll take it if I can, but it's easier said than done.

Sorry about your leg, hope it heals fast and glad you've got lovely ppl to take care of you while it does. :)

Good idea, unfortunately we don't have skunk traps over here - no skunks, lol, but there maybe something similar - i'll try to find out. Thx.

@Amanda- Yeah, bitter things may help, as well as spicy things, shame about the guns though, I assume you're in the Nation of CCTV ville. As for the poisons, there's plenty of humane stuff out there, I've had to use it on certain pests down south, especially possums and Raccoon's. Pretty sure you can get a Bow and Arrow over there if anything   , I was recently talking to a British friend of mine, and he can't wait to come back and shoot.

Thanks for the well wishes, it's getting better slowly but surely. At least it's giving me time to study.

At my work I recently reported my boss to higher up in the company for antagonizing, favouritism and bullying. I gave her 3 chances that included only events between her and myself, there are countless others between work colleagues and her. It's been 1 year over-due.

I got offered a course through work, free and full of training.

3 year anniversary with my man today ^_______________^
