I mean its physics, the force you deal is equally reflected back onto your fist.

Unless for some reason hearthlings can punch like their fist is made of steel...

Arrows actually do have a better chance at penetration since some metal armors aren't typically more than a centimeter thick in one area.

Should we implement 'directional' attacks with close combat and arrows?

If a arrow hits a target that's facing away, it should deal more damage or penetrate at a higher chance.
Maybe it affects accuracy too since the target may not be aware to 'dodge' said arrow.
+10% accuracy if a target is facing away from you. Even if they move you will have a minimum of 0% + 10% aim chance as a bonus but only if they are walking away from you.
+15% damage increase if a target has his back to you.

As for close combat, I've read that it was nerfed recently so it doesn't give you a free hit anymore.
Instead attacking a fleeing enemy or a enemy that's facing away from you, nets a +15% combat weight bonus. Meaning if 100% attack removes 100% defense, you deal 15% additional in attack weight.
Otherwise it can be kept simple and you get +5 Advantage if you hit them from the back.

Ever want an FPS where one bullet takes off a
limb and leaves you crippled for life; where you
have to go through PTSD and therapy in order
to fight off the urge to kill yourself!? =D

Ever want a mechanic in HnH where you can
get sick and die because your village didn't have
the medical skills required to treat your new
and strange disease?

Ever want to have to sleep, take breaks to eat
and relax so that your character doesn't suffer
from stress or mental illness?

Ever want your character to panic in the face
of danger and full on run from a bear into the
water and drown himself?

Didn't think so, stfu

1. Unless you're playing an FPS where everyone is running around with Anti-Material rifles, I doubt that a bullet is going to ''take off a limb''. And to be honest, any aspect of a FPS game that breaks it out of the terrible mold of modern shooters today is a good aspect of the game, considering how watered down and outright boring the genre as a whole is nowadays. See: Spec Ops - The Line

2. Any new feature in H&H would be a welcome addition in my opinion, if all else to test gameplay that either may, or may not be fun. After all, this game is in ALPHA DEVELOPMENT, and that is kind of the point. I think a disease system would actually make things slightly interesting, and it could give way to a whole new branch of skills stemming from "first aid".

3. That actually might be introduced in the future (Happiness meter, anyone?) and considering you already do have to eat and sleep (not so much sleep, but it does help with travel weariness) that doesn't really add anything to your point. For further rebuttal, see refutation #2.

4. There is no need for a mechanic such as this considering there have probably been countless deaths to panicked situations as is, without having to auto-run the player's character into deep water. dragonxkai was also not asking for a system that automatically shoots your bow for you, so i don't really see your point in your sarcastic suggestion of this either, aside from trying to inject automatized "realistic situations" (i.e., your entire 'joke/insult'), of which the player-controlled versions already exist within the game.

There's no need for you to be such a gigantic asshole to someone that's just simply suggesting ideas.
