yeah i kindof agree with potjeh's suggestions, a much lower range would be really cool.
i haven't got a good enough character yet to experiment with the combat changes but the change to flex seems to be designed to promote more interesting standing combat instead of just glorious flex-punching
advantage is now a more interesting resource, which you can choose to stack (or choose to give to your enemy in exchange for attack[/speed, like before]), so now we have one more nice thing to make choices about :)
haven combat should be about choosing the particular complex chain of moves and manouevers to make and not just thundering until you have enough for sting and then 1 hitting the enemy while he moves. the idea i think is to make it a little less about reflexes and more tactical?
i do think maybe the sword nerf is a bit much though, mainly i'm butthurt that everyone is going to be using axes now so i dont feel as special.
maybe swords should have slightly lower weight attacks than axes (but more than punch) but the damage as before?

again, this is a sandbox game with open pvp and not a pvp game with a sandbox so maybe they are right to increase the power of larger, more organized groups over any 14 year old with a sword and youthful reflexes

also lol at polls, i dont think j&l like democracy or mob rule ;)
if you can present a good argument in this thread thats far more likely to convince them i think.

That's the thing though, if you play smart movement combat is never about reflexes, it only happens to be so because someone blunders and walks around without thinking.

I doubt this whole discussion is gonna amount to anything knowing Jorb and loftar, but it's nice to hear people's opinions on it. Also Kaios, we're all aware it's an unintended mechanic, but what I wonder is people's opinions on why it's an issue though, I've heard burg talk about it before, but I'm generally wondering the opinion of the community, why is having movement combat in-game an issue in the magnitude a lot of you gentlemen make it out to be?

edit: Cannot into punctuation.

Running around in circles waiting for something to happen in combat is not something i'm fond of. Some of the more expensive skills might need to be changed though.

I really don't think the whole start of a fight should happen 20 tiles away from the other person.

I still want some skill to be included.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a little mobile during combat and the biggest issue was already resolved (somewhat) and that's the full def bar movement hits. However, carrying an inventory full of buckets of water, chasing or being chased for possibly an hour or more and the simple fact that you can easily build IP from such a distance are NOT good gameplay mechanics.

Xcom wrote:Hay if they nerf mining and movement combat why not go all the way. Remove movement altogether.

And fix those tick bugs with ovens, kilns and smelters. That doesn't make sense at all putting stuff in and having it cook without branches. Also those kilns and smelters they have 5x5 inventory, what a op shit. Reduce it to 2x2 like the ovens. While we are at it maybe remove those insanely overpowered traveler's sacks and backpacks. I mean why should you have that much inventory space.

Animals I have problems with to. Why should you be able to kill bears from water. Make them run when they cant get to you. Only with 300 UA you should kill bears. Same goes for all other animals.

Boat traveling to. So op that you can sprint travel without any stamina penalty. Make boats use stamina and reduce there speed. I also want CRs Village porting and Hearth porting removed. That crazy bullshit about drinking water while sprinting should be removed as well, wtf is that about walking and drinking at the same time. What a joke.

This game is so fucking easy. There should be random natural catastrophes that randomly kills your characters amongst other strange dragons that can show up and one shot kill you out of the blue. I don't like this game at all the way it is and it needs a proper nerfbat right over its head. You know its supposed to be survival game and all that. To think of it in a survival game there shouldn't be any walls or obstructive objects you can build. Remove walls and houses to. Only leantos and spruce beads should remain.

Edit: I forgot about those stupid cellar-stones as well. Why is it everything indestructible was given a way to be destroyed. Make those stones destructible to. I mean only a 2000UA character with 1000 AGI should be able to kill a lvl 5 troll. Anything but that is just imbalanced. Nerf cheese to, maybe remove it altogether.

Jorbtar listening to players like you is why we have salem, you have no idea what you want, or what makes a good game. Literally everything you have asked for is a terrible idea. If you remove hearthing, you'll have another salem.

Also if he just made hitting someone while moving drain a base 70% of their defense bar, you could still have movement combat, but 1 hit wouldn't fuck you completely, also remove call of thunder please.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

"remove call down the thunder". "You would still have movement combat". No. I'm sorry buddy, the only reason it's actually possible to be on the move in the midst of fighting is your ability to gain the various combat resources while doing so. Movement hits, while a nice mechanic for the weaker players, are not nearly as big a factor for movement combat as Call down the thunder. It's still possible to throw a few nifty tricks against a high level toon as it is now, but the removal of CDTT would effectively kill off any chance of competition for mostly anyone not at the cream of the crop levels of LP.

I know all of you want the system to benefit people who like grinding their characters more, and yes I can very well see the merit in that, but I honestly don't think anyone of you will enjoy being horribly dead in a month/ two's time when Dis are done with you.

All right, this seems to become a moot discussion, I sincerely hope you gents enjoy the new system for what it is.

RJT I'm sure you'll be as cocky when you're fellating a certain someone's genitals in a month's time mate ;)
