Killing isn't bad at all

Lol. There you have it, Haven community in a nutshell.

Randomly killing people seems bad to me because when someone's character dies it means a lot of wasted time and effort for the player. And when the player is a noob, who doesn't bot or has people giving him gear and curios, that's quite an asshole move.

I personally miss politics in this game. I suppose murder would be more tolerable for many players, or even more interesting to follow in the forum, if there were an ideology behind it. At the moment most people are killed just because "they were there", not as a move toward a higher goal. It's sad to realize most factions behave like regular criminals and don't seem to have proper ideals behind them.

I think you fail to understand the fact that you can not choose to live IRL so if someone breaks your shit, it's wasted time, but they CHOSE to play a game in which breaking people's shit is an ACTUAL MECHANIC. So how is dying "wasted time"? It's a part of the game. Deleting your Skyrim saves is wasted time, dying in Haven is gameplay.
It's an asshole move to bitch about getting killed in Haven because you wanted to be a "peaceful non-competitive farmer". You don't, for example, play Dota or lol and cry when someone kills you because you wanted to peacefully walk around and observe the nature. Same in Haven.
Anyway, "proper ideals" for factions are fun. They want to have fun, so they fight. Which is fun.

That, and also, when one of your characters dies, you don't lose everything.

At some point, when you are tired of dying, you'll understand that you need dedicated foragers / hunters / fighters.
So you'll build characters that will eventually die.

Now hopefully you won't lose your village, nor your crafters.

Recently, a friend of mine ragequit the game because he'd lost his 200+ survival, 300+ mm, 100+ everything else when his char died of a gank.
I feel sorry for his loss, but in a way, that may help him realize that HnH ain't farmville, and that's what people like of HnH.

You want to randomly wander around the world? you are free to do it. Just be clever about it, and don't send your main crafter outside...
Specialize your characters, and prepare an outsider alt to replace your "born to die" main outsider, then you'll have much more fun with the exploring side of HnH.

Yeah, lol. İ played it for a long time and never died... But there is a difference between salem and haven. Salems players are a lot aggressive and sidious than haven players. İf i had this affair in salem, i would hit exit immediatly, i wasnt a fighter in salem but i was a good trader and got shitloads of silvers.

...and i checked wiki i think that was not a halberd, it was a battleaxe of the twelft bay, now is it right? :)

Proper forum slang is a B12.
Also, Dragon Helmet = Dhelm, and someone with a Dhelm is a Dhelmer.
The more you know....

Yeah like so, this one time? in another world? I met this noob who was tbh kind of a lying idiot (claimed he didn't have rage, then shot at me; shot did no damage but I picked the rock up and shot him back, for damage, then he was surprised and we were friends), but I was helping him kill some deer anyway. And andreascas came along and not only didn't kill us, but killed the deer a lot quicker than we could, and warned us that pretty much any other dhelmer would have killed us (and I was all yeah I know that, your mate Redell already killed me just round the corner from here for no reason, this is why when you appeared I ran away and only came back when you weren't killing the other guy). The end.

Oh and some time in the last week, at the end of a river at the edge of the world, I saw someone and they said 'hi' so I got scared and ported home in fear, because they were wearing !a ranger cape! and a merch robe! ... and I later realised that I was also wearing a merch robe and technically looking only slightly less scary than them. So hi, person at the end of the world.

The Day A Screen Shot (Emerald) Saved My Life

Back in January, I was living at New Brodgar, soon after it was founded. There was not much there at the time. A few brick walled plots, some new players and some vets all living together.

We would do group hunting, mining together, paving, etc. Mostly it was a lot of work, but also with that many people it was a lot of fun.

One day I was boating. I saw some deer and was wanting to build a vidol near NB so that I could farm and work on raising q without worrying about raiders and stuff. Back then there was no wall and it was completely wide open.

So, I started to kill these deer and some guy in a rcape comes along in his own boat. We start chatting and killing deer together. It was good fun. We talked about where I was living in game. I remember him asking a lot of stuff about it. But, my memory is failing me in my old age and I cannot remember much correctly it seems these days.

Someone is pming me and asking if I am talking to someone, so I thought it was odd. I don't recall who, but the same sort of conversation is going on in village chat. We kill a couple more deer and I get out of the boat, walk over to them, and completely don't even see two dhelmers standing near me. I was getting back int he boat when I actually saw them. The rcape guy had led them to me.

They were talking privately, I suppose and robben and emerald were telling me not to trust anyone I meet in the area. Emerald lets me know that they showed her a screen shot of me, and that she knew me, so my life was spared. They were Asendre and FallenAngel.

A few laughs were had and we watched them ua a deer around the town and take turns chopping one another. It was actually a lot of fun that evening. :)

What a sweet story. I once wasn't so lucky. Back when I joined a noobish village with my main, one of the villagers who was an insider had thought I was there to kill him so he brought me up on a mountain to "help him forage" and I got ganked by 2 dhelmers, ran out of water and barely survived with very low health. Later those gankers turned into my villagemates, and then enemies again. Haven is weird.

one of the things I like about this game is the choices it has, but even when you do, it's constantly effected by others, be it good or bad. Although I play peacefully and a pretty boring game, which I am happy with, it suits my needs and the villagers I have and their needs, cause they like projects, theyre less interested in attacking/killing/ or pissing other people off. But over the time ive played this game I've come to know a lot of raiders, some whove helped and protected us, even though others saw them as enemies and raiders. individuals who would go down and give their gear to noobs, or decide to spend their time hunting out towns to camp rams and kill. it's a weird way of playing, and it might not make sense to me, but it seems to be a way many do play.
But you learn how you build up your gaming experience to be able to play somewhat how you want to, but it takes a lot of time.

I've said this before, but most of my experiences since I started this gam have been positive with players, when I was a noob hermit, and when I've been in other peoples towns.
when I started properly playing as a hermit in world 4, I got tracked by a Russian guy, who aggroed me, and I just stood there cause I didn't know what he was doing, and we chatted with his broken English, and he introduced me to an English speaking group, then came and pretty much build me a hermitage, and helped me fish. When there were threats in the area, he'd come to warn me, and answer my stupid questions, and forced me to build a palisade, which I thought was a waste of time back then! He was from a Russian town called Asgard, when the world ended I never got back in touch with him sadly.

lots of good people:)
