Did you read the articles at all? Haven is not going for steam, why should it? Is WOW on steam? No it isnt. Do people play WOW? Yes.

attempt to introduce more meaningful differentiation along qualitative rather than quantitative lines

I take it that Jorb and Loftar have finally heeded my advice! :D

or they're just coding in a "rolling the dice" - narrative reminds me of RP and D&D rulesets ;)

There is not enough content to make players stay "just playing the game", not new fantastic place to discover, no new boss mobs, and so on.
Its the PVP ( or fear of PVP) that make these game meaningfull, there is a lots of Farmville clones around.

I don't think that's true at all. Haven is one of those games you can do most anything. It's more about preparation than just showing up. If you like to fight you can. If you like to farm you can. It gives you the tools and lets you decide where to go. The only limitations are those placed by you and others also playing. :)

oh yes expert talking ;)

btw.
PVP ( or fear of PVP)
might take up 1% of my playtime (accumulated 41 weeks, 5 days, 7 hours, 41 minutes, 2 seconds)
... if i'd be in for the "getting owned or own" game i'd play MPFPS and Tournaments again (what i did long years before i started HnH) - i guess only a small amount of the PVPers in HnH are capable of not getting teabagged all day long ... if i'd wanted boss mobs and the like i'd go WOW (oh no)...

Those greedy fucks, i want play. I want play NOW.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
