flame most of the graphics are downloaded to your java cache in the haven-res.jar file when you download the client the first time. any other graphics are downloaded to the java cache from the server when they are needed, but remain in the java cache for you and don't require re-downloading very often.

Indeed, the continuous use of bandwidth is not primarily in the static resources of the game; it is merely in the transfer of real-time, mutable data, like map data, object updates, in-game UI usage, &c.

I'm sure the current bandwidth consumption could be improved, to be sure. There's quite a bit of work involved in that, though; and I'm not yet sure to what extent it could reasonably be improved.

That solely depends on your definition of the word reasonably.

But in case you currently retransmit everything as-is my guess is you're able to cut >3/4 of current world-data traffic by using versioned caching and deltas.

When i need, mean:-
-When i meet a man with a new hat
Or
-When i open the client my second day and ther's an update to download.
