Ive been to lake town with my main and an alt several times, and each time I have mysteriously avoided being beaten to death. So the idea of laketowners sudddenly taking to attacking people who visit for no reason seems a bit unlikely.

Given that you recently took public credit for driving away the author of the food chart, I'd say you steal because you like to. You don't need what you steal - and frankly, the way this game is structured, thieving isn't especially desirable, compared to making things oneself. So you are doing it for fun.

Congratulations on your excellent role play of a sociopath, both in game and in the forums. Trying to sell stolen goods back to their original owners was a perfect touch - and getting your character killed in the process shows true role play dedication.
