To a good chunk of people you're talking about americans if you talk about "overseas people". Just in case you didn't notice "overseas" going both ways.

In it's most basic form you could say that. There is a reason why I quoted the word "overseas", though. I can try to explain to you Wipfmetz in PM if you want me to & for anyone else curious, *edit* that isn't a troll.

Anyways. Done going offtopic. Have fun with this topic everyone and try to stay on-topic. Don't troll like Lothaudus, please. :)

I'm genuinely curious in this explanation. By all means, PM it to me.

It is not a miranda issue, it is an ICQ issue. At some point they changed max password length to 8, if your password is longer, they only accept first 8 characters. This is a protocol-wise issue and has nothing to do with a client.

The problem people have is that you seem to be implying that there are people on this forum who are not "overseas".

You are international with respect to this forum, you are overseas from either myself or Jorb.

'Merica is a foreign, overseas country so far as sweden is concerned

International is a word that can be applied to the forum itself, as it contains multiple nationalities, however it cannot really be applied to a single person, unless you're talking about dual citizenship, but even then it strikes me as an odd thing to say.

I used ICQ way back when, along with AIM, but just couldn't stand ICQ. Constantly had weirdos popping up trying to talk to me who I'd never met, and the whole number ID system didn't work for me. Aim had a similar problem, but I got used to it and just kept my name to myself. Using MSN now, and as buggy as it can be sometimes, it has enough features, and is stable enough to be plenty fine for IMing.

Has anyone tried SIP/SIMPLE for IM? SIP seems like a nice protocol (much unlike XMPP), but I haven't tried it, and I know only little about SIMPLE, so I'm interested in hearing anyone's experience.
