I've never bothered to build a claim, through three worlds. I leave my farms unlocked, on the grounds that nothing I ever get is rare so it's more fun to concentrate on being an awesome farmer than worrying about someone making off with my q11 carrot harvest. (Yes, I am by no means elite)
