Actually, the banners don't give a lot of claim space at all. So the placement was completely necessary. That was back before statues were implemented. Besides, there's no such things as too many banners. ;)

Well yeah but i disagree with the last statement. You can't build chieftain statues outside the idol range as far as i know so if all of it is filled with banners you can't place statues anymore.
