Agreed. The dark tower series was a good read...I also enjoyed many of his other books...even under the dome I think it was called.

Also to note: several of his other books play on the same themes and concepts of doors between worlds and cross over between the "usual" world of King and the world of the Gunslinger. They're not part of the series, but provide tons of background into the universe King created, some books more than other.

I do like horror and have the whole King collection but have been sorely disappointed in recent years, he churns out so many books now that few of them tell a good story or read well. I've sort of moved on to Dean Koontz and a couple of others. Kings early stuff still warrants reading though, pre Misery, the first eight books of his are what made him. He's also co-written a couple of good tales with Peter Straub that are worth a read.

You definately should!

The Talisman and Black House are the two you're thinking of, and they might as well be Dark Tower books... ;)

King has always been prolific. I've not read a lot of the books he's published over the last 15 years or so, though, so can't really comment on their storylines and such.

Just remembered about a really nice book. Y'know, the one named Till Eulenspiegel by Charles De Coster.

A really good book is Inkheart by Cornilla Fluke (well I think that is her name) and I think most people who play this game and like killing people would love this book

History books. More history books, and then a few history books. Any time period, any civilization, any culture.

And I would highly recomend Hamlet's Mill. A study of human Myth and it's use as a vehicle to pass on knowledge.

Bernard Cornwell ~ Saxon tales entire series, Viking invasions... After my dad was diagnosed with mostly father-to-son vikings hereditary disease, my interest in them raised :)
Robin Hobb ~ Every book
GRRM ~ ASOIF series

Those are my big three writers currently.

Also many of the classical literature like Camus & Orwell and LOTF mentioned previously, but I prefer History/Fantasy.

I also like the Roman Macro & Cato stories by (forgot name, am at my other place, not where my books are), basically life in the Roman legions and several campaigns.
The Series of Empire Rising, the first Empires of Sumer & Akkad
Bartimaeus trilogy :)

Have the entire Redwall series from when I was 13 o.O
Also have tons of Dragonlance from when I was 13 +-
Eragon +3
Magicians guild shizz
Abhorsen & co
Mister monday & co
many, many more =/

I buy so many books my room is filled with bookrecks and they are all double layered horizontally and vertically per shelf===> Bending shelves.
