Modern clients make combat way too easy.

People have been saying this since when enders added enemy ip to his client, though - in fact this change was pretty huge.

but i think that with auto-drinking-bots and double-tap to do move/attack, the skill cap is lowered even more. Even useful general additions to the client like hide buttons make combat less dependent on experience.

i've already written elsewhere what i think about other bots - I don't like foraging bots because they take away some random social interactions, and I feel uneasy about other bots because its no longer so much about cooperation to get larger tasks done in game quickly, but I do understand why people use them. Even I used a farming bot because my hand was hurting from harvesting my small fields every few days. Yeah, I'm getting old…

Combat without double tap is so badly made it makes me want to punch the monitor. Trying to movehit someone? Well let me put the enemy's portrait right next to the quit button so you disconnect and die. Have fun!

lolololol, good one man..

I was against bots in earlier stages of the world , but why would i take a huge disadvantage when everything needed is public/i can make the rest myself, so as long as j&l dont do anything against it idc. Tho i wont complain if they fix it..

Ok, if you're able to list the contributions made by the creation of custom clients/scripts/bots/etc. which in turn allowed for POSITIVE changes made by the developers to this game, I'll make you a list of all the negatives that have occurred and we can see just how well your theory matches up with reality.

We found out that server crashes on mass cave ins e.g. (nothing against you xcom, i love your expriments, but it wouldnt be doable without bots)

Make your list. I'll use it to make mine.

Oh come on man, it's not just about the botting and you know it. Ever since the first few custom clients had been released, there have only been numerous "improvements" made upon to them by several players over time and they go far beyond simply running bots/scripts that allow for easier farming or some other bullshit people don't like to do sometimes.

For example, the auto-hearth/aggro/logout incident forced the devs to add the timer to hearthing. If I could recall every single incident like this I'd post a list in a heartbeat because I know there have been many. (Hey readers maybe you can share some of these happenings)

Big deal, someone managed to crash the server by using bots to ease the process of creating a completely obscure group of structures and then smashing it. "Jorbtar: OOOOHH WOOOOWWW thanks so much for this IMPORTANT discovery I am sure glad the majority of our playerbase doesn't actually look at the screen when they are playing in order to discover these terrible bugs!!!!!!"

Plus the worse issues that happen ranging from stealing accounts to crashing players.

Exactly. I don't know what they were imagining when they did it. Fullscreen? But anyway, doubletap more than compensated for it.

So? You're complaining about a stopgap measure on a version that will become obselete. You don't have to like the way it is but your arguments are petty and personal. Like anyone here should give a fuck that you are personally inconvenienced over the price of pixels these days. You shouldn't have subscribed to alpha development if you can't handle shit happening. You're not paying for anything nor are you being asked.

The client is open source so that it may be modified so that these exploits can be discovered and fixed.

You are complaining about that process.

My logic isn't the one that's fucked around here.

Don't quote me on this but were the client not open source, I'd say the majority of the exploits discovered by these means would have never been relevant because they couldn't have happened without modifications made to the client in the first place. EXPLAIN HOW THAT MERRY-GO-ROUND IS PERTINENT TO THE CORE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS GAME, AMIGO!
