No, I haven't read any.

http://stackoverflow.com/ is a good source for Q and A though.

Seriously, that was really... REALLY... dumb. HOW IN THE WORLD ARE THESE TWO SCENARIOS RELATABLE IN THE LEAST? First of all, you used the word STOP. "How can law enforcement STOP people from speeding?" The use of the word STOP is already incorrect in relation to what is actually being discussed. No one is saying it's possible to STOP botting completely, just the same as it is not possible to stop speeding completely. However, that is why speeding laws exist in the first place. We all realize that there are people who speed dangerously when they should not be, and these laws exist in the hopes that one will take in to consideration the lives of others before they exercise their poor judgment.

OBVIOUSLY WORDS WRITTEN IN A BOOK ARE NOT A PHYSICAL DETERRENT, LITERALLY PUNCHING CARS OFF THE ROAD FOR GOING TOO FAST. How in the world is this even remotely related to Haven & Hearth botting?

DemoGraFX wrote:Well, the issue in all of the botter threads is not the combatting of the bots, but the unfair advantage that the bots give.

Who are you to say what the sole issue is? I disagree wholeheartedly that the combatting of bots isn't just as important, if not more.

As for Robben and Bras, you're trying to argue the multi-clienting issue rather than botting it seems to me. The two are related, of course, but I don't see how arguing about whether or not the alt accounts are preventable is as pertinent as the botting itself.

If you could hypothetically stop multi-clienting, you could stop people from running numerous bots simultaneously to do everything for them from collecting pearls over and over, to washing their pants. I know how ridiculous this is, as when I actively played I would generally run 5-10 clients simultaneously. I know people that would run 18+. I am sure there are crazies out there that run even more.

But you can't effectively combat multi-clienting without empowering the few that know how to circumvent blocks, so the point is moot.

I just run 1 bot-client... I have more pearls/gold than robert and Brás together. (yep , limit the accounts is stupid )

@arcanust join to me and we can make a new bot engine for hafen, we can make mad to a lot of people here, because the present bots dont work in hafen

I agree, which is why I'm so adamant about the botting issues instead. I see less of a problem with alt accounts on their own than in combination with the use of bots. It doesn't really matter how many times someone says to me specifically or just as a general statement, "There's no way to prevent botting 100%, it is here to stay, get used to it, learn to program/script, blah blah motherfucking blah."

I know it has been used as an example countless times before, but once again, World 3. As far as I am aware, custom clients that included the use of scripts/bots did indeed exist during this time. With that being said however, it was still one of the best world's yet. (In my opinion)

"How could this be?!" you ask. Well, I'll tell you how... It's because people enjoyed the game for what it is. The custom clients certainly weren't what they are now but it also wasn't filled with a bunch of fucking negative nancies spouting out garbage like "BOTS FOREVER" or "MY FAVOURITE ASPECT OF THIS GAME IS THE SCRIPTING!!!" Was the world unbalanced? Perhaps. This was mostly due to a few bugs however that simply had not been dealt with until the end of the world. Botting was a non-issue. It's the players who want the bots, not the game forcing you to use them.

Exactly. People play the game how they want to, it's not affecting you and your spruce cap (except for some forraging bots maybe) so what's the problem?

What makes you think the present bots won't work for hafen?
Maybe we will need to change the bot engine to deal with the protocals for hafen, but I think we don't need to make a whole new engine.

man figured this would of been moved ages ago as it isnt even congress assembly worthy.

And for the sakes of arguement, the snip of hafen code release shows its similiar code with a lot of salem additions, so yes it will be bottable.
