@discussion
My hands hurt, so I'm not feeling like writing a big post, even though I have something to say, so I'll try to make it short. Simple analogy to explain what I meant:
when a child comes to you crying because some bully destroyed his sand castle, you don't tell him to take some sand and do it at home or to stop building castles, on emotional and moral level sane person will express sympathy to offended child and condemn the bully, on rational level he would explain how to protect that castle and deal with bullies. Those levels can and do coexist just fine, there is no need to commit suicide or move to other country (i.e. "stop playing this game") as long as you like other aspects of building that castle, even if this beach is full of bullies. Disapproving of someone's actions also doesn't mean disapproving of the possibility to act that way itself or being not aware this is possible or wanting "the rules" to change.

For a second I thought this is a screenshot from another game.

Dafels, don't embarrass yourself and read definition of reality atleast in wikipedia. All games are real life, including mmo.

Assholes will be assholes in and out of a game. And will always try to cover it up with lame excuses.

Seriously, clean the thread already.

Stop comparing games to real life. There's so many games with similar aspects to Haven but no permadeath and no "bullies". They can just click the X button top right, and choose another game. How can you even compare that to moving to another country or picking another beach? Wtf. It's a game, there's plenty of those, there's some in which you can't "bully" people, some in which you can. If you choose to play in one you can bully in, you also choose the possibility of getting bullied. If you don't like that, repick your game.

I don't think you read GrapefruitV's post.

Disapproving of someone's actions also doesn't mean disapproving of the possibility to act that way itself or being not aware this is possible or wanting "the rules" to change.

This.
I compared (though analogy isn't exactly comparison) two sandbox games, which are different by tools and materials you're using to play, but major concept is same. If you want to use classic "real life is much more important" excuse, it won't work in this case, because time investment in actual sandbox is much smaller, than in hnh, and "wipes" happen pretty much everyday due to natural causes.

Feel worse about this thread with every new post, if you'd like to keep going, come visit irc or add me to IoB on skype. (even if you wouldn't like to keep discussion, I myself would like to hear what are those games similar to hnh for sure)

Why do you use sharp tiles? It doesn't seem to do anything useful, just makes game uglier when mixed with ctrl+h, n and g.
