I would just like to ask the ones that said the game is fun and then quoted bitza on this is boring..how the heck can something be fun and boring at the same time?

I mean don't get me wrong..I love this game I really do..I am still trying to play and push through things..It is just all the fun is totally gone for me at the moment..Maybe in a month or so it will be different..who knows..

But being trapped inside a fence for over 20 minutes cause a boar is outside and you can't shoot him cause he will break the fence is not my idea of fun..And after so many hours of sitting and playing the game and wasting all that time on it..no I would not think dieing is fun..so you take precautions and do what you have to do to be safe so you can actually play the game at some kinda normal and it tends to lose something...especially when so much is messed up with it right now..

and before anyone posts well you can out run the boar...uhhh have you not noticed the horrible lag in the game?????

it is fairly obvious what the purpose of some of the changes is. of course the devs wanted early game pace to slow down, so that god tier players aren't running around with every item in the game within the first few weeks. this appears to have been a long term goal of the devs ever since the world 3 start, when changes were introduced to slow down LP rates (no more teapot grinding any place you like! no more infinite loom macros!) these changes promote game balance but are more treating a symptom than the true problem, that the majority of the game is locked up until you meet the LP requirements. farming, hunting, prospecting, building a pali, all of these are unavailable to the player until they have cranked out the requisite amount of LP. because of this it seems natural that people would want to grind incessantly to bypass the early stage and unlock more of the game content. burg, i don't think you can argue this fact because i am fairly certain that the majority of the players in your group (and the other 'power gamer' types) have followed an exact process to max out LP to rush marksmanship, prospecting, etc.

i'm not saying this isn't the way it should be, but my point stands that after a certain point, there is very little 'productive' work to do right now until you meet those LP requirements. naturally, people will want to progress out of the "rabbit fur leather, run like hell from boars" stage, and as it stands right now, the only way out is to crank that LP somehow.

in essence, what i am saying is that if you ain't grinding, you ain't getting nowhere, because after the basic setup, there's nothing else you can do except pointless grinding to get ahead

well that was the problem they were trying to address with the LP overhaul, unfortunately the system was scrapped and we haven't heard anything about a new version of it. there have been a few tweaks like lowering the lp requirements of some early skills, foraging, hunting, lumberjacking, pottery, etc but really there needs to be more early game things to do that are more rewarding (more low tier animals, more foragables, maybe a few tweaks to fishing, better lp for some tasks that are actually useful). reading that thread about grinding LP where people are arguing the finer points of clearcutting and turning the trees into buckets/baskets/double lit fires/etc is a clear sign that something is wrong.
