Sounds like a great idea and I'd totally play it.

I can't help in any way really I got no skills, but I'm going to stalk those design forums anyway -shrug-

Well, randomly-generated maps would be a bit less practical when you're working with a post- rather than pre-civilization world. I doubt they would've just built a bunch of buildings and highways at complete random.

I was actually thinking about suggesting hiring mappers for the towns, that way they can look more realistic than with a generator. :)

Bah, it can be quite a bit of both you know? For example, take H&H's rivers, straighten them up a bit and change the sprite, and they are highways. Instead of desert/mountain/forest/grassland, you get wasteland/industrial remains/residential remains/commercial remains/garbage dumps and such.

Once in the 'residential remains' area, just put a lot of walls arranged in squares ad kinda lined up instead of trees and voila, procedurally generated world.

Of course, having some dozens pre-arranged city sections and such to use might help making it look nicer. And using some sort of big map to generate the area from might also help :D

We'll have to see.

I'd play it. As long as it's not a grindfest.
I'd help contribute by stealing pixel art off my sister's computer.

doubt this will be any good.... but if u reliese a beta id try it... as long as it has pvp... if no pvp then NO cazz pvp is the only thing that makes mmos fun

i only doubt because 90% of steampunk games fail >.>

and EVERY mmo steampunk game fails

closest steampunk mmo to be good is golemizer BUT the lag is so gamebreaking it realy makes the game unplayable
