The radiation is worst than three mile island, but not as bad as Chernobyl. All they can do is sit tight to avoid alpha radiation and hope there isn't enough beta or gamma to harm them.

Today we talked in school about the Japan earthquake and tsunami. We discussed different ways the Japanese are suffering, and I mentioned that they might be missing friends, because I remembered your post Tonkyhonk. BTW, any luck finding your friends so far? Our hope and prayers go with you.

thanks all for your thoughts and interests on the matter, even when this game has gotten big updates to give you new challenges :P (and thanks to mods for hearing my request of de-merging threads.)
we all appreciate your kind hearts more than just donations, and would like you all to keep up with your own lives. id like all of you (and some of us who can) to keep on having fun on game as well.

yes, i finally got a mail from my best friend, but just once to say she is fine and not sure about her family living in one of the worst areas. fortunately one of my relatives whom we believed living there happened to have moved from the worst area before the disaster hit and we met yesterday. (its ironical his reason of moving out wasnt a good one but turned out to give him the luck and life.) most of my friends and related are in the southwestern part of japan and my suffering isnt as bad as others in the slightest.
everyone needs to prioritize ones own family to make contacts, since available communication means are so limited and none of us should expect to know all info for the time being. so most of us have to wait patiently till things get somewhat ceased enough.

many of us have experienced Hanshin Earthquake in 1995, and we know how harmful unplanned & untrained volunteers with no skills can be. so people in safe areas are currently waiting patiently and doing what we can and hope for the best, trying to keep up with the prospected Economy issues. (fyi, volunteers with no certain skills cannot do anything good there atm since volunteers can waste and use up available food, fuel, and electricities which are already scarce in the areas and broadcasting programs keep on telling "wanna-be-volunteers" not to rush to the areas to avoid making the situation worse)

each prefecture and local government has already been sending lots of tracks of food and basic supplies and water cars and such. it will still take a while for all the survivors to get hands on them, but we all are trying the best we can.

one tv news showed this old man, trying to clean up the debris around his used-to-be house, and said "we are Japanese and we all take pride in being one. we all know we can rebuild and recover from this. we have done so till now, and we are doing it again." not only the Japanese, but im sure people living in Japan have got the same spirit and we all believe we can, and we will do so for the lost lives.

on a side note,
i believe this is a good opportunity for those interested to discuss nuclear energy. many believed we challenged the great nature with our technology, but after all it was just some sneezes that have wiped all the efforts super-easily. sadly, it was again our under-estimation of the power of our great mother nature. (nobody expected this big tsunami and 3 fail-safe systems would fail all in a row.)

Three Mile Island was enough to fuck American Nuclear Energy development for almost 30 years. We discussed it a little in my Arms Control course I took a few semesters back. I tell you what, International Security is a great course direction to go into. :3nod:

Lima, it's going to get worse in terms of nuclear power. Ever bible thumper and politician is preaching against nuclear energy now, because "HURR DURR CANCER MUTATIONS". And it's just going to get worse, countries world wide are going absolutely retarded, and canceling nuclear energy efforts. I think it was...France(?); Their prime minister, basically said "WE ARE SHUTTING DOWN ALL NUCLEAR ENERGY IN OUR COUNTRY, AS WE DO NO WANT SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THE JAPANESE INCIDENT TO HAPPEN AGAIN". Yeah.

Honestly? If we're boycotting something, let's boycott tsunami's, and earthquakes. It's TOTALLY not their fault in all this.

It wouldn't be France. France relies on nuclear energy for over three-quarters of its energy needs. It'd take years to phase that out, and it's not likely to happen.

iirc, it is Germany who decided to shut down 7 nuclear plants which were built in/before 1980s for serious check-ups.

France is like "LET'S NUKE EGYPT, Image"
Germany is like "Shutdown 7 Nuclear Plants for 3 months - earn praise - then back to business Image"
