Then people will simply stand aggroed on an alt in their vaults.

I should really be more clear...the person attempting to use scents cannot summon if they are in combat. Though i suppose that also raises the issue of summoning people to save them from combat so im really at a loss. Perhaps remove the ability to use crossroads / village port in the vault/town when a ram is present? Don't really know (didnt really think through the first time cause im tired as hell =|)

What about diverting scents to attacking authority/village itself? Take the direct threat off the individual warrior and putting more of the vulnerability on the village that sponsors the warrior?

I think something like this would be the best way, I've read your C&I idea and really thought it was a great idea. Attrition is what is needed it seems.
I had a retardedly huge signature and have gotten this embarrassing replacement to show for it.

People would just use dummy villages for their combat characters.

Why not just make the ram travel alot further than the 25 tiles before it breaks, say 2000 tiles, then at least you would have a better chance to hide it or build a bunker for it or whatever, and the perp would have to come out of vault and travel a little bit to find one.

Or have a brickbasher that can only bash brick if he has murder scent for a hf thats within a brickwall, and say after he's bashed it, he pulls a muscle or something and looses 400+ str

I think you missed the point of vaults now. Most are built somewhere where they force you to place the ram in a specific spot right next to their wall so they'll never miss it and you can't wall it off or hide it.

Well, assuming that you really mean that getting your HF destroyed by anyone means you die, I would have to say once again the idea can not stick. Aside from this being a very poorly thought idea and game play mechanic, all you essentially have done is just gone around in a full circle basically. Once again all the defender has to do is stay logged into the game in order to not get killed when a ram appears at his doorsteps. All this does is greatly encourage passive defensive play with vaults. Locking an individual's HF down and essentially making it his life line may seems like a good idea, but it just spells out poor game play mechanics to me. It even leads into the issue of what to do with a person if they commit crimes without a HF, and people without HF's that are attuned to charterstones. You essentially are attempting to solve that mongoose problem by releasing a bear.

Yes, i didnt realise that. but still, if you can wheel your ram a good distance then you can just take to the spot that can be rammed without parking it right in plain sight.....then the perps still got to go on a mission to find it or scout for one.

Take back my previous pointless solution statement, I wish to use it here. All you have done now is cause havok and chaos for every village. Now they'd need to expand their searching area greatly, and the game starts to become more like a chore, or a game of will. All it takes is one unscouted ram that could lay somewhere far off from your village to destroy an entire village. It makes for extremely unfun game play mechanics and tips the scale in the attackers favor greatly. Not only that, It will just encourage more people to build villages in locations where a ram can't go undetected (such as islands).
