I usually raid because of loot, and in rare occasions the combat system. It's pretty fun, like a game of intense chess, even though most of the time they have no clue what they're doing, you can just imagine the shock on their face when they die. Though I haven't really gotten killed from any fights, most people are just pussies even if they outnumber you. Sparring just isn't the same, I always love to see that death bubble. I don't normally grief, sometimes just destroy small time noob camps with a lean-to, plow and a fence cornerpost, just because it takes like five seconds.

That's a loaded question without a question mark. People derive satisfaction from just playing a game which has many choices and consequences to consider.

I've done everything there is to do in the game more times than I can count but I never felt the urge to give grieffing a try. My grieffing robs other people of their fun people that maybe are just trying things for the first time people that maybe only have time to play a couple of hours during weekends, maybe people that just want a flower garden they may be larpers but my fun should never value more than theirs especially since I can have fun in tons of other ways. When there is simply nothing but grieffing left to do that is "fun" it means it's time for me to move on to other stuff, there are books to read, shows to watch, other games to play and hey if hh ever gets fixed and new stuff is added you can always come back.

Never figured you for a humanitarian...

... kidding. I always knew there was a soft little furball waiting deep down inside of you, waiting to come out. ^^

Did read the thread. Just a reply to the OP:
Because it is strategicly positive to. I remember 90% of Odditown's wealth was of stuff we didn't make. Steal other people's stuff is often easier than getting it yourself. Even if the q is lower just stick it on an alt or someone who could use it. Food is almost always useful especially if you are near an infinite 10q water source, just script consuming it off a table and then plow drink repeat. Kill the opponent is mostly so they don't fight you back during and after the raid. It makes sure less people consume your resources. I personally wonder if killing noobs is worth while. If you are certain they can't get to you with out you seeing it coming, you have a vault, I don't see why you should kill them when they will probably continue to give you free stuff, essentially, until they get a brick wall.

It makes sense from a gamer standpoint - if people didn't ENJOY killing, then why would FPS and MMORPG with PvP games be so successful? Nevertheless, the idea interests me greatly. I myself am a pacifist and will only fight when attacked in this game.

Adrenaline, the benefits, and for fun.

People kill and rob because it makes them feel better to know they can ruin someones in-game life. (And for fun)

The only thing destroying everything someone has worked for does however, is make him a new robber, thief and murderer.

This is how it spreads, and why it is so common.

Actually it's the same reason why we play things like DOOM. But it feels better because it's a real person behind the scenes. We do this so we don't kill people in rl :P
