Rage quits aren't too common when I play. Its a lot more fun when your playing with a team of people you know.

Also I tried HoN and didn't like it because the interface seemed unpolished and confusing to me compared to that of LoL.

Requires quite a bit of effort, but good non-mainstream fun. (thought it's been pretty mainstreamed since Dofus, the prequel to Wakfu.).

You also almost need to play with a group to get anywhere too.

I've played FFXI from 2003-2010, I know all about that. It's SE's niche

IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS COMING AT YOU
From someone who has played DoTA for a good while and has been playing League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth since 2009, I don't agree with TechX.

TeckXKnight wrote:League of Legends is notorious for its RAGEQUITS and RAGEFITS and, well, its rage in general. If you're familiar at all with X-box live, that's what you're going to see. I've been through hell and back getting from 1100 to 1800, then back to 1700 elo on ranked and I can tell you that the only times I've seen pure rage was in the 1100 to 1400 period. After 1400, people lose the Dunning–Kruger effect and start getting better off their mistakes and drop the rage. Getting to 1400 isn't easy at all since you will always have to deal with a bad player up to and beyond that point, but if you fight hard enough, you'll get it. There is no point in making a new account unless you're really bad and getting frustrated over losing a lot or if you're being stupid. The chances of getting a good game under level 30 are fairly low, the game does not actually start on your first match, its more or less a terrible 350 match tutorial that teaches you that you might know whats going on.

TeckXKnight wrote:Heroes of Newerth is considered a higher tier for play and generally has better players but the RAGE is still present.

Not at all, you will never meet the generally better players you speak of unless you work hard for it, just like League of Legends there are bad players all across the board. I've yet to see the difference in attitude. I don't know what you mean by tier, but I'll assume you mean difficulty. No, HoN is not harder than LoL. The two are based off the same game but they play differently.

In League of Legends there is more of a team dynamic, you can have one lane lose completely to the other but you can still win because your team makes better decisions than your enemy or because you farm much better than they do. You can also talk about the imbalance of the new champions and some others but those problems exist in the champions themselves being inherently broken.

In Heroes of Newerth, you have to be careful not to die to the enemy because you lose gold as well as give it away and champions snowball very quickly into being unstoppable. There is also a deny mechanic that is pretty stupid and also contributes to the snowball. There is imbalance in this game as well but I won't get into it.

TeckXKnight wrote:Dota is considered medium tier play

This is completely untrue. I'm not completely sure what you're basing your tiers off of but for the sake of explaining this, I'll assume its based of difficulty. DoTA is much harder to play and get into than LoL or HoN, no one or no thing will hold your hand in this game. You will be brutally forced into a wall and raped if you are now going to playing this game for the first time, most people playing DoTA1 are the players that have played for a long time and are still playing for stats. Much of the interface that you would see in LoL or HoN are not here and the game is completely fair and balanced to the point one man can destroy your whole team very quickly if given two or more kills.

TeckXKnight wrote:and will involve everyone calling you a stupid noob regardless of how well you're doing in the game. No seriously, you can be dominating a finalist league match and you'll still be the stupid noob. It's not even an insult anymore, it's just how dota players refer to each other.

I guess I agree here.

That being said, play both and find out which you like more, HoN is free now and runs under the same system as LoL so there isn't an excuse to try both if you're arguing which is better. DoTA2 is on the horizon now and the beta is fairly fun, a lot of game breaking mechanics were addressed and I've yet to run into any angry people, if you need a key to it PM me and I'll see if I can't hook you up.

Heh, if you want to meet me and many other old Sodom folks and several HnH players (Patchouli, Nao and Valten plus some others) from other factions then you gotta meet us on the international server. Game is full of bugs so HnH players feel like home immediatly.

The fun thing really are the tactic, turn based battles especially in a group and the character building system with 12 classes and each having tons of possible builds that vary quite a lot in battle. Plus you have a lot of different equip too so basically no 2 chars really turn out the same.

Crafting system is ok, very capacious, but also a bit tedious. Again HnH players feel right at home. Political system exists too, but I promised myself to keep it casual. Looks pretty restrictive on the players in the government, but cannot really judge about it much. Also some eco-system which does't have too much of an impact though.

Overall pretty fun game.

I heard HoN had better people in the early part because it has a price tag directly attached to versus LoL's Free-to-Play plan. I assume though that once you hit the leveling cap that the rages would be less but still there. I would play LoL if I had 4 other people that I knew in real-life, or even online, and could just play and strategize with. As it stands I feel that you are often forced to play cookie cutter builds if you play in PuGs, Pick up groups made through their matching system, and it will cause a lack of new ideas simply because if you want to push an idea you are only 1 out of 5 and the rest are probably more interested in winning than trying something new.

Download/installation size of the game? I'd gladly play with you lot but I have a monthly usage limit spread out over 3 people so it's sort of a make/break factor until the next month

About 800 MB. If you decide to play feel free to send me a pm if you wanna be added to our skype convo/guild with the original name of Ainran. We are playing on the International server though. With a US IP you would be directed to play on the North American server. I can however make you an account if you give me some trash mail adress, log in name and player name. From what I heard the american server is pretty empty anyway.
