This could be fixed by limiting the size of the new landmass, and then you would have the high level factions competing among themselves to colonize that place, they would be fighting eachother and the low level would remain in peace, or fighting each other, this would balance things out

i guess so, but if it were so small that it was easy to police then it would be a case of one faction... to rule them all

i'm not sure it would balance entirely, it would go nicely with a new siege system, with bigger walls and better weapons, siege towers, maybe at a stretch ballistae

I support the idea 100%. Too much rivers, you can't really hide anywhere, and even with a huge map everything is so accessible. Playing as an hermit with a small house just doesn't work because of that. And everyone try to find nice spot in between super grids anyway.

Supposing you don't have ways to teleport in or out of the new landmass everything would have to be done manually, so settling up on the "new world" would be a slow and tough process (if you consider the distance)
Ships would be the only thing connecting both continents and as they can carry cargo these can be board by other villages or by "pirates"
What would stop a village from moving to the new world?
They would take a heavy loss on their influence on the old continent by doing that, by having to depend on ships

So it's gonna be not a ship warfare, but more like of a canoe warfare?

It would be like in ancient times, 2 ships gets close one another and the crews begins to shoot arrows at eachother or try to board it (as ramming other ships is not viable in this game xD)

Im just brainstorming here, I have 0 expectations that someday something even close to this would be implemented

Make an ocean dividing an landmass from the other, the first landmass is the one we are on right now, and is the only one that can spawn hearthlings, the other, is a tropical-ish rich in resources, both in quality and quantity...
But the problem is, to reach the paradise lands beyond the sea you would need to cross the ocean, the only way possible would be constructing a ship, which requires to be in a beach tile, eats tons of wood, rope, linen, glue and iron (having a 72 hours drieing time), have a special skill (sea faring ) costing around the same as all criminal skills together and must have 4 people on it to be used on the water finally making a decent length travel...
This would add something for villages to do when they are too advanced

Love that idea! :D making a brickwall and village claim on my own is a challenge (did it both in w5), so then I'll have a new and harder one! :D I love challenges!
Hope you have a great day

unfortunately you're right i fear T-T

but alas, it's still something to talk about, with naval warfare in mind, I like the idea of finding oil wells on the deeper levels of the world, that you can perhaps will urns with and light your arrows using a campfire, some wool, and tar that could be somehow manufactured from the oil, i like the idea of fire mechanics involving structures, the ability to burn palisades and houses, obviously you'd need the line of site changes i was talking about in a siege thread, meaning that you can't see or shoot through walls, otherwise you'd just burn peoples houses down through their brick wall, back to naval combat, if there were seafaring ships obviously they'd be using sails rather than slave rowers (though that would be neat too) so you could burn their sails, i think perhaps the idea of burning the boat itself is over the top, ships built for ocean faring are quite hard to set alight, they're not just dried wood nailed together, because they'd leak. having a flaming arrow* shot at you could do less damage, since it's covered in cotton and pitch, but give a debuff to perception, agility and maybe strength whilst you are in a state of panic (fire's gotta be pretty scary stuff to a hearthling when it's being shot at him).

*where are metal arrows by the way? if i can make steel gauntlets and complex jewelry, why are arrowheads so hard, it would be another use for feathers too, considering what hearthlings shoot at the moment are a sharpened rock (or bone) on the end of a stick, without any fletching

Oil wells is WAY TOO MUCH. Don't you wanna H&H turn just like real world with all these oil warfares and U.S. democrating everyone for the same stuff?
