same can be said about irc channel or skype conference.

people shouting for w7/wipe there and spamming back on forums might have convinced them to act sooner.

I've had my fair share of experiences in global throughout the span of W5, and 'twas a lovely time. This was before trolls coming on daily, when all global was was a discussion; a discussion and us answering questions. I disagree with the majority of you naysayers for your lack of open mindedness on the subject of global chat, as you probably were told "it's crap", went into it for a minute, left and never gave it a second thought. There was something there, something fun. Global chat was my drive to keep on playing during World 5, what does that say about it? Was it really as horrible as you believed it to be?

Admittedly, there was a decline towards the end of W5 (and I've been informed of the worsening of it throughout W6) in which trolls came on a more regular basis. All good things must come to an end, and the end of global chat was evident in my mind.

RIP Global chat, I enjoyed my time with you.

Keep it classy.

other than being integrated into the game client there is nothing that global chat had that irc doesn't, except completely unmoderated trolling and spamming

Discussion without limits. There is a reason so many of us enjoyed it.

If it is really a "discussion" and not spam then you can have that just as limitless on IRC.

IRC doesn't have constant discussion. In global there was discussion every minute of the day.

you may wanna start one if you want one, which should be interesting enough for others to join in.
people dont care to repeat the same discussions over and over.

But they didn't. Why? Global chat was ingame and a friendly environment. IRC isn't either of those (Pacho's client with IRC plugin is outdated, don't try to justify ingame IRC).

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the noobs would get trolled in IRC for not knowing "common knowledge".
