also quite frankly, the trade forum threads were better before curiosities came about. with some exceptions (thanks for the bear cape Phaen ;)), the trade threads don't offer very generous "buying" lists. just the standard pearls, flotsam, bluebell, ant empress, q85 clay crap. what villages would buy hard leather or bulk linen cloth or peppermills or milk or even cheese? nope. just LP. that's all we care about now

sodom used to sell gold nuggets for 500 bricks each. i'm not saying that's the way things should be but there should be a place in between these two ends of resource value

Well, that's not gonna happen odds are if you have a trade thread, then you can pretty much make anything that requires production to make like milk, linen, etc the only real thing that you would need is the things you can't produce and actually takes time to get to level your character curiosity's.

I am curios wether the high amount of affinity to violence among the big factions nowadays is directly related to the lack of permadeath.

Probably, I really wonder how world 3 was so successful though, There was a lack of perma death back then but somehow managed to be the greatest world ever. Maybe since the world was so huge and spread out it accounted for something. world 6 is so small and so easy to navigate, probably why theirs so much violence. I remember in World 3 getting lost and traveling for hours! Since the world was huge!

it is not, although even now with decent gold and silk you can still make a pretty good table. Everything else you said is right on the money and I totally agree.

Not just that but when people had to grind so much to build a character they did actually care about losing it. Combining that with the policing force of Sodom and other smaller factions, this actually led to people being a more kind and courteous sort. Making friends with passersby while out boating or literally just porting right outside another person's village (often with your main) just to do a trade because you knew that village was friendly or a force to be reckoned with so even if some bad guys were hanging around you really didn't have to worry.

One of the reason why Sodom was so successful at maintaining peace is that their public strength made it less likely for people to want to commit. Not to mention that though they declared the central grid under their protection, they did make a bit of a habit of tracking down criminals further. Until A.D. , no one challenged their strength.

You cannot rollback people's mindset though.

imo it's how the game plays and works that you get your mindset, so to speak.

in W6 permadeath has basically been erased. Damn near everyone does or did hack/exploit etc etc. The game wasn't fixed to counteract these, so the peeps who survived/thrived were the ones who did these and actively sought out new ways to hack/cheat/exploit.

It's J&L's fault, but i'm not mad @ them because A. it's a free game. B. before Salem, they were actively improving(to a point) H&H. C. they are working on Salem which, i hope, is paying them. which allows this game to continue.

Atm i'm 50/50 half of me thinks as soon as Salem comes out, bye bye H&H(seriously why would a commercial gaming studio want competition from thier own devs) while the other half, believes or rather Hopes that When W7 comes it'll be the best yet, with the bugs/lag fixed and a way to bring back Permadeath to it's full Glory. I also hope that the prayer Einherjeraspekt or whatever is called, is deleted from the bloody game.

And it was actually possible to punish criminals who had brickwalls, due to brickbashing. (And also wall-jumping, for many months)

These days you can't (although there is now the infamous ram bug, but it wasn't known until relatively recently) and there's no-one like Sodom interested in being white knight champions of the hearthlands.

Yeah, I think that should be removed, or at the very least nerfed so you get a maximum of the stats your ancestor used to have, instead of adding the ancestors' stats to yours. If the highest UC any of your ancestors had is 300 then you can Einherjar up to that amount, but no higher.

What i like about HnH that it let's me play with my mindset - i don't see that it dictates me a mindset. Sure i have to deviate from my path a bit sometimes to react on other ppls mindsets but 95% of the time i play as i want to. You know some ppl i played with - they sure will confirm.

joojoo1975 wrote:in W6 permadeath has basically been erased.

Where is the difference to W5 which invented the LP system/ Alt usage ?!? Only a bit more experience how to handle it...

Hello - how many ppl is "damn near everyone" of 500 ppl, of 200 pppl, of 120ppl, of 80 ppl ?!? This "damn near everyone" is an absolute wrong expression! And i am wrongly accused - like prolly at least 75% of the player base... !

joojoo1975 wrote:It's J&L's fault, -snip-

No, No, No! It's the fault of players that don't care about this being a test version where you are asked to report bugs and exploits to the devs and not to use them endlessly ... we all know the situation with Loftar and Jorb working on Salem - it's not them that don't care but some players! And i remember well that there was reaction at some serious exploits and also on misuse...
