jordancoles, don't get me wrong, i'm as guilty of it as anyone else..in w3 i played in a small group that wound up owning q80 clay, and multiple iron, tin, and copper mines (back when a mine meant "metal forever") then i met up with the goons and got access to gold and silver and several pairs of rage's thanes before his account got stolen. i traded hq metal and resources for food and supplies and built a damn nice character and a double brickwall village rivaling the size of w3 Xanadu. the inner brickwall was the size of a vidol, and then the 2nd wall ran out over 40 tiles from the first so that archers could not see past draw distance (i wonder if now there's a way to circumvent this?). inside we had crops nearing q200, an iron mine, several mansions and mass production facilities along with 20-25 cows. this was for a group of maybe 5 people near the end of it all.

then there was the battle at stronghold and the GOODBYE GAY WORLD thread where i was killed along with sabinati and a couple other goons by ranger bow. that was still my best character to this day. of course that sucked, but losing a village like this to a wipe hurts so much more. after you've spent hours and hours working on something awesome - especially if it involved a lot of tedious boring work like building a brickwall or grinding crop quality - and it's taken away, a lot of people are never able to come back or have the same passion for building massive villages and projects like this.

so i guess all i can really say is, congratulations, and enjoy because one day it'll all be gone.

I'm just sad that we have only two decent sandbox mmorpgs, one of which is unplayable due to lags, bugs and cheating and the other is just not as good and lacks content :(

To be honest, the funnest part of H&H is when you start building your city or work together on certain projects. I never minded a wipe.

Yeah it's odd, if all my characters were wiped today for a new world I wouldn't be as butthurt about it as if I'd died really. I'd be more butthurt about dying full change than I would having to rebuild a whole city actually haha
Might be a male pride thing

HnH is best when a new world has just started. When everything is built and everybody hiding behind walls then it is only stupid number grind.

Yeah, it's fun for the first week or so (not that it even takes a whole week for people to get brickwalls up).

I also enjoy mid-world when I have a spare alt hanging around. I just to equip it decently port randomly into the wilderness and just derp around the map without a home

i have to say though after having done a new world a few times, the whole thing of spending 6-8 hours a day (literally every major village i've been in there were several people doing this) on things like searching for clay and water, building brickwalls, paving, clearing trees, hauling around building materials to build houses and mansions, dealing with materials of crap quality until you can raise survival and carp to decent levels, grinding on things like fish and carrots and farming for curios so that we can sling bears rather slowly  not to mention personal beliefs (a simple way to ease the pain of beliefs - players should start on full change, and then lp rates of certain curios rebalanced) ...well lets just say that while doing many of these things does contain a certain degree of entertainment for some, for others, that is the boring tedium.

i suppose an argument could be made that if they are able to maintain authority on all those statues, that they deserve to have a village that can't be sieged? i don't know. it's just difficult to reconcile when the majority of progress is tied to time spent online - invest enough time in this game and you can be literally indestructible - though i suppose it's easy to say the same for many other MMO games

To your first part, I guess you got a point ;)

Second part, well maintaining authority is way too easy. Even without all the alt armies being raised with the curiosity system.
