well hey at least they're saying we are using ur graphix instead of saying they made them thereselves.....

But its not a private server as they would have to be using every square inch of the coding to HnH.

I'd say let em and then when they start adding there own stuff to it and you or loftar like it... patch real HnH.

its free labor... no one can pass that up =P

I'm pretty sure the biggest concern of the devs isn't small servers made by you guys for the sake of playing the game; the problem is potential boogiemen who will use that as precedent to rip everything off in attempt to make a clone for profit. They need to show in some way that they are defending their intellectual property.

Well if Jorb's past posts are any indication, he doesn't believe in the farce known as "intellectual property".

Also, if copycats do use his art, they still have the daunting task of actually recreating the feel and mechanics of HnH, which is something entirely difficult to do. Then, its just a matter of seeing which game people prefer. Most likely they will always choose HnH.

Reminder that the client is open source.

You just need to implement the server. There is no "feels" in the server side code.

I't s just wrong. There are no "feels" in the client's code. In H&H, like in many other MMO games, client is just a window to the game world and nothing more. All game logic, all physics, all interactions between players actually happens on the server. Client just displays what it got from the server and sends user's actions backwards.

P.S. I didn't talk about graphics & sound resources here, only about code. Creative works, of course, forms MOST of the feel of the game, but they are completely unrelated to the client side.

Speak for yourself, fgt.

I have made many sprites and tons of artwork, and I'm thrilled when I see someone use it in their works.

You didn't create anything unique. Your "investment" was minimal and simply a contribution to a unique creation. Like the end portion of a human centipede or the final episode of Arrested Development, you served no purpose to the overall masterpiece.

If you had put any kind of real time, money and love into something that was essentially stolen, I'm sure your opinion would be different. Or perhaps not. You do seem to be the kind of useless, Twinkie eating basement dweller that preaches from a libertarian manifesto while collecting Cheetos in your neckbeard. Either way, jorb's opinion on the topic was already made clear despite his posts in these forums.

It would be harder to make a stupider argument.

Your initial statement was all inclusive, due to your word "nobody." His artwork is unique. He likes to see it used by people regardless of the three points you specified were necessary for one to enjoy seeing something distributed. He provided an exact counterexample.

Then you backtrack and bullshit. I know neither of you, but I know you, sir, are a jackass.

Another biased opinion by HnH's own insecure fat man.

You don't even know me or what work I'm reeferring to, you ignorant, useless puke. How can you say it wasn't unique? You just spout out randomly like a teenage girl on her period, don't you?

Then again, you do seem to be the kind of bitter, washed up, out of shape, adult-cartoon watching, pizza guzzling common cretin who's wife hates him, that would have to vent out his real life frustrations onto others over the internet in a vain attempt to redeem what is left of his tattered balding ego.

Now how about actually (for once) posting a comprehensive post that actually refutes what I said? My work was original and unique, I spent hundreds of hours on it, and (like usual) you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, little fat boy.

Also, I don't eat cheetos and I have my own house, you painfully stupid fuck.
