Sorry about the stock screenshot but I can't use Puush in a full screen game, it just comes out blank. This is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It's currently on sale on Steam at 50% off for a measly $9.99 USD + tax where applicable.
What can I say? This game reminds me so much of a lot of different things. If you were a fan of Mass Effect's story, driven by the choices you make and how you interacted with NPCs, you will fall in love with Deus Ex. When I first started playing and I heard Adam Jensen's voice (the main protagonist) I immediately thought,
"Holy crap this guy reminds me of Keanu Reeve's character Neo from The Matrix!" But I digress.
You are sucked into the storyline the moment you start playing. I haven't played very far into it because I just bought it (and I will try not to spoil it too much) but you are given choices on how to deal with objectives for your current missions. It's not all
"run and gun to A then go speak with NPC at point B." Maybe you want to sneak through the entire mission (and get an experience bonus for not being detected?) or perhaps you will work the diplomatic angle and talk your way out of a hostage situation? Running and gunning is also not very feasible either, unless you like dying over and over. While you can take a stray bullet every now and then, you won't survive a hailstorm of bullets, so you'll have to use the terrain and objects to your advantage, ducking behind desks and crates or whatever else is at your disposal.
Did you ever get the thought while playing other games like,
"Wow it sure sucks to be this baddy right here. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I really don't feel like they deserve death but what else can I do? EXPERIENCE POINTS NAO! *stab shoot hadouken*" Well in Deus Ex: Human Revolution you can actually choose to deal with enemies in a non-lethal way! Everything from tranquilizer rifles to hand-held stun guns, you can disable enemies without the guilt on your conscience. Guns aren't the only weapons at your disposal, either! If an enemy gets too close you can expend an energy bar to use a Takedown attack, which you can either decide to be lethal or non-lethal (the lethal being a pretty gruesome way to die, even though non-lethal still looks pretty painful too.)
To sum Deus Ex: Human Revolution up: 5/5 would play again!
