For the most part I think some people have trouble understanding how to survive and how to make a safe camp, they'll go make a little fenced in area next to a river and get upset and leave once someone sails on up and steals from them or kills them for fun. A few friends I've had come try the game have literally no idea what to do and quit because they feel the game is too time consuming or difficult to understand.

That, my froggy friend. Is not the mark of patience! :D

Every single person who I have convinced to play this game is too afraid or overwhelmed with it. And those who I tell about it think either the graphics are too "bad" or that you need to invest too much time in game to succeed in your endeavors.

It would be nice to have more players but I think the reality is that most people just don't have the patience required for a game like Haven.

Funny, that's exactly how I feel about haven. It's a horrible difficult game, that can be heartbreaking. The graphics are pretty basic and I've played it for 2 years, and not really succeeded at it.
So I can see why they see that.
I just tell them to play it for 2 weeks and see how they feel.
All I've gotten to do that have quit soon after.
